Weird. Maybe it’s a regional roll-out or something? I just rebooted both my docks and tried the configurator on two different browsers. Click the button to check for updates, spinning wheel for 1 second, then nothing. I guess I just wait…
The new dock firmware has only been released in the beta channel, followed by the regular update channel about a day later if no new issues pop up.

What I read on Discord is that on the R3 beta uopdates are turned off by default but beta remote firmware updates are released in both channels and thats why you also get the remote beta updates. But the dock update is currently only available in the beta channel.
Fantastic. That’s what I needed to hear. I’ll wait a day or two and assume it will show up in the web configurator. Thanks!
Does anybody already know if the charging issues are solved with this new dock firmware?
From what I read on discord yes.
Also having issues getting the R3 to charge. It worked intermittently on USB-C, seemingly very pick about orientation (had to spin it 180 degrees from the way the magnets “like” to attach, and also be sure to balance it perfectly upright).
So I moved to PoE as many suggested. Now I have more problems. The dock stays connected more reliably, but it won’t charge the R3 at all. I’ve spent like an hour trying various orientations, cleaning pins, etc. Insanity.
The kicker: I can’t power cycle the dock because the ethernet jack won’t let go. Using a normal booted CAT6a cable I’ve used elsewhere with no problem. The port wiggles but simply won’t disconnect. Insanity.
Soon I won’t have enough juice to connect to any of the web tools, including the forthcoming dock update, at which point both products will essentially be bricked. How do I get Qi charging working? I’ve tried slowly moving the R3 across the surface of two different MagSafe chargers, hunting for a spot where it goes into clock mode to indicate charging, but haven’t been able to locate where the induction coil is.
The induction coil is stated on the back with a sort of crosshair. Could you power cycle your switch perhaps to also power cycle your dock?
I had noticed that I was having problems with PoE charging through the dock when battery was lower than 80-90%. Now that the dock firmware is updated, the issues seem to be gone thankfully.
Every day I check for updates of the dock, but it stays with V 0.6.0. Is the update officially released for everybody?
And still I worry about the battery consumption. A single TV evening, most of the time laying on the table, more than 50% are gone. What will happen, if I use it intensively over the day?
Of course, I keep the WiFi connected, but switching this option off, makes it impossible, quickly reducing the volume. This is not an option.
How about your experience?
Enable beta updates for the remote then you might get the dock update.
