Weird. Maybe it’s a regional roll-out or something? I just rebooted both my docks and tried the configurator on two different browsers. Click the button to check for updates, spinning wheel for 1 second, then nothing. I guess I just wait…
The new dock firmware has only been released in the beta channel, followed by the regular update channel about a day later if no new issues pop up.

What I read on Discord is that on the R3 beta uopdates are turned off by default but beta remote firmware updates are released in both channels and thats why you also get the remote beta updates. But the dock update is currently only available in the beta channel.
Fantastic. That’s what I needed to hear. I’ll wait a day or two and assume it will show up in the web configurator. Thanks!
Does anybody already know if the charging issues are solved with this new dock firmware?
From what I read on discord yes.
Also having issues getting the R3 to charge. It worked intermittently on USB-C, seemingly very pick about orientation (had to spin it 180 degrees from the way the magnets “like” to attach, and also be sure to balance it perfectly upright).
So I moved to PoE as many suggested. Now I have more problems. The dock stays connected more reliably, but it won’t charge the R3 at all. I’ve spent like an hour trying various orientations, cleaning pins, etc. Insanity.
The kicker: I can’t power cycle the dock because the ethernet jack won’t let go. Using a normal booted CAT6a cable I’ve used elsewhere with no problem. The port wiggles but simply won’t disconnect. Insanity.
Soon I won’t have enough juice to connect to any of the web tools, including the forthcoming dock update, at which point both products will essentially be bricked. How do I get Qi charging working? I’ve tried slowly moving the R3 across the surface of two different MagSafe chargers, hunting for a spot where it goes into clock mode to indicate charging, but haven’t been able to locate where the induction coil is.
The induction coil is stated on the back with a sort of crosshair. Could you power cycle your switch perhaps to also power cycle your dock?
I had noticed that I was having problems with PoE charging through the dock when battery was lower than 80-90%. Now that the dock firmware is updated, the issues seem to be gone thankfully.
Every day I check for updates of the dock, but it stays with V 0.6.0. Is the update officially released for everybody?
And still I worry about the battery consumption. A single TV evening, most of the time laying on the table, more than 50% are gone. What will happen, if I use it intensively over the day?
Of course, I keep the WiFi connected, but switching this option off, makes it impossible, quickly reducing the volume. This is not an option.
How about your experience?
Enable beta updates for the remote then you might get the dock update.

I am on dock firmware 0.7.0 but the remote is still not charging in the dock. Works with Qi charger but not in the dock when it is either powered by USB-C or PoE. Have tried rebooting both remote and dock several times to no effect. Hasnt charged once yet in the dock. Remote is at 73% charged from Qi charger. Anyone have any ideas. Problem doesnt seem to have been properly fixed in the latest firmware.
Hi @iordish I’ve had the same charging issue since getting the remote — the only way I could get it to work initially was by unplugging and plugging the dock back in. However, I was recently updated to firmware 0.7.0, and I’m pleased to say it does now seem to be charging correctly. It’s only been a couple of days, but so far so good.
I’m powering the dock via PoE, and since the update, the dock screen shows “charging” for a minute or two when the remote is placed in the cradle — this never used to appear. After that, the message disappears, but charging continues.
Also, when the remote is removed, a new symbol with a lightning bolt through it appears on the dock screen to show it’s no longer charging. That visual feedback is really helpful.
I’ve attached some photos in case it’s useful. If you’re still having trouble, it might be worth contacting support at support@unfoldedcircle.com — replies can take a few days, but they’re usually helpful.
Hope it gets resolved soon!
Thanks. Not working for me. Will contact support.
I can confirm that updating the dock to 0.7.0 resolved the charging issues for me as well.
Even wireless charging has stopped working on the R3 now. I have tried rebooting and factory resetting both the remote and the dock and no change. Very frustrating for a brand new product.
Had to return the remote and the dock to UC. Hope I get new ones back and working soon!

That’s really unlucky.
Yes especially having waited so long to get my hands on it!
Same for me, 0.7.0 fixed it on my docks.
After the firmware update, everything seemed to be fixed with the R3 Dock charging issue. Been working perfectly. Yesterday afternoon, picked the R3 off the dock and it had zero charge. I know the charging indicator on the dock and the clock on the remote both appeared when i put it on the charger the night before. So I unplugged the dock and plugged it back in (the old fix) and put it back on the dock and it was at 100% this morning. Been using it for an hour or so and just noticed the charge was back down to zero. In literally an hour it went from 100 to 0. Anyone else having issues?
And I just noticed another strange behavior. When I put the remote back on the dock it started charging from zero. When I last looked at the status, it was at 17%. About 20min later, I checked again and it was at 100%. No way it charged that fast. So there is definitely something strange going on. Will likely just reboot the remote and restore from backup to see if that helps.
