Ziggo Mediabox Next

Manufacturer: Arris
Model: DCX960
The mediabox is better known as the Ziggo Mediabox Next (Netherlands).

Till now, I haven’t been succesful adding the right commands (IR or Bluetooth) to the Remote 3 for the Ziggo Mediabox Next.

I found an image with the HEX IR-codes, but it seems these don’t do the job as well…
Does anyone have the right way to get the Ziggo Mediabox Next working with the R3?

Any step-by-step explanation is appreciated!

As far as I can see the model is available in the Globalcache database: Database | Global Caché Control Tower

Thanks for referring to it! Unfortunately, by IR control it is not possible to send voice commands to this mediabox. The original remote has a voice command button to send requests to the mediabox like ‘radio’ (to listen to a radio channel) or ‘Netflix’ (to start up Netflix). I got the suggestion to try to connect the R3 with Bluetooth, but I can’t find a way to pair it with this mediabox…

I’ve got the Ziggo mediabox as well (I am from NL too). The box only works through IR, like with the UC, or the accompanied remote, which is RF.

As far as I know, the media box does not have Bluetooth. I searched in the UC remote database for IR: UPC —> general settop box 1

Voice commands are not yet possible with R2/R3. If voice is comming I am pretty sure not on device basis. 1st planned is HA-Voice and some local commands.

Thanks! I didn’t thought of UPC (previous name of Ziggo).
But unfortunately, this way doesn’t work as well. Very frustrating…
Could integrating Home Assistant help the issue?

The normal buttons should work through infrared (e.g. directional buttons, enter, prev/next channel). Are you sure the IR signal gets to the box with direct line of sight?

so for KPN TV+ box DIW7022, I use the android tv integration not sure what is running on the ziggo mediabox but otherwise that would be worth a try to control it.

Yes, the mediabox is clear from any obstacles. Same goes for the BluRay player of which I discovered, it also has difficulties with receiving the IR commands correctly. Strange all together…

As far as I know (and understood), the Ziggo Mediabox Next (Arris DCX960) does not use Android TV.

Okay well maybe this can help you: (proton)

Have you tried to connect the round blaster to the dock? (First discconect it from power and then connect the blaster) In my experience the blaster works better than the dock because it shoots to the front and back and the Dock only to the top and bottom.

Thanks NJK!
I will try this one after my vacation.

The round blaster is connected, but the mediabox is in clear sight of the remote 3.
I will reconnect the blaster as you describe.

Stealthman, the IR from the remote itself does not work out of the box. If you want the IR signal to be sent from the remote itself, you must enable its beta function first and then choose the remote IR somewhere in the entity setup. It is where you can choose the IR to be sent from (standard UC dock).

IR from remote in settings, development, preview features.

Living in Belgium and also problems with controlling the settopbox of telenet which is actually similat one as ziggo box. Any solution found on your side?

Not yet. I just returned from vacation and hope to resume programming later this week.

If you have Home Assistant, there is an integration here, that you can use to link to the Remote 3. As you’ll see almost all the remote keys can be mapped and I found one extra “DVR” that takes you straight to the list of recordings (on the Virgin GB version).

Hi all, after 5 weeks of partially absence and also puzzling, I decided to buy Home Assistant Green and use the integration @Martin suggested. Hopefully this will solve the problem for me, but as far as I understood, the voice commands are not (yet) working. That will be a next chapter…
