Now that more people are taking delivery of their remote 3’s, I thought it might be good to have a thread where people could show off their page set-ups, showing their custom screens and icons.
I more or less have all my equipment set up now, but I’m using the supplied icons, which to be honest, are a bit boring!
So what custom backgrounds and icons are people using to jazz up their remotes and where did you get them from?
I’m a bit torn on which way to go with the ‘aux’ devices like lights, fans etc. Do I go harvey28’s way with the lights in each activity pages, or global pages like in cobhc’s, I can see advantages and disadvantages to each.
With the activities method I guess you need to replicate the pages for each activity you watch e.g. Shield , Sky TV , etc. But navigation is slightly easier and the amount of actions/icons can be larger.
On the other hand, with global pages it only needs to be implemented once, but navigation is a bit more cumbersome and probably can’t have so many actions/icons before the list becomes long to scroll.
@harvey28 I’m wondering if you duplicated those GUI’s for both your Shield and Sky TV, and if so, is it possible to ‘copy’ a page from one activity to another. Or did you have to implement each from scratch?
Just to both. And yes, you can copy pages between activities. Just make sure you have all necessary entities added to the activity you want to copy a page to.
I also used both methods. I created a page with only special functions for each room and copied these pages to all activities in the same activity group.
As @heimspielvier said, yes you can copy from one activity to another.
Also, you can copy once and paste multiple times in different activities without having to copy each time.
Harvey, how do you assign icons to the Nvidia Shield apps? I assume you are using the integration, which I am using as well. However, I don’t see anywhere in the web interface where I can assign custom icons to the apps from the integration.
The Apps, such as Netflix etc. are assigned to buttons on a new page within the activity.
When you create a button, you can define it as Text or Icon. You can also change an existing button from one to the other.
When you add an Icon button, tap on the Icon symbol and you can then assign an Icon from the Custom Icons page.
I’d show you some screenshots, but I’m away from home.
My issue is the Shield integration does not provide a list of commands (e.g., Netflix app) to which an icon can be assigned. In contrast, IR-based entities do provide this list.
The Shield integration also does not include a remote entity to get that list of commands, which other integrations do.
Finally, the web configurator does not even display the page of Shield apps – it is only visible through the remote itself. Here are some screen shots showing the above:
It works with the command source but at the moment only in activities. Not the app selector from the entitiy is show instead for each App a signle widget must be craeted:
