Dock Connection Issues

I can see this issue has been impacting others and was wondering if the root cause is known. My setup has been working for the most part, but lately I get repeated dock connection errors. I can only restore connection by factory resetting the dock. I tried the Ethernet connection to the dock and it resolved the dock connection issues but I have issues with the IR devices (TV & PVR) not powering on or off.

Currently I’m back on Wi-Fi dock connection with all activities enabled to not permit remote sleep. Everything works fine with this configuration (whilst Activity is running) but of course the battery drain is atrocious.

I’m on latest beta with the enhanced Wi-Fi connection mode enabled and dock is on latest firmware. I’ve tried factory resetting the remote and restore settings.

Anybody else work out way to Improve or mitigate dock connection issues?

Does your Dock has a static ip assigned by your router and is that saved in the Dock settings?

It does have an address fixed in router and used in remote. The remote has become so unusable I have started to charge my Harmony Elite.

EDIT: Cant believe I’m putting the Elite back into action. So disappointed with the financial and time effort invested.

I am not sure about the HTTP in front of the IP. You are looking at the remote. Did you try this IP in your PC browser if it is OK? Did you try to assign a fixed IP in your router instead of the dock itself?

I use my DHCP server to assign a fixed IP and it works almost from the beginning like charme.

I hadn’t really thought about the url I had set in dock. I must have grabbed the format from a post here? I have just got the IP address in the field now. I can currently see that GUI in a browser too.

I do have this IP fixed to the MAC in the router. My set up has been working pretty well since I received the remote. It’s really only been on the current Beta I’ve seen these issues but it has been progressively worse until it’s become unusable. I’m back on My Harmony Elite for now.

I have the UC and Dock powered up again and will monitor if dock stays connected with just the IP address set in dock. It was dropping out without any value in there too so not holding a great level of confidence but I’m happy to try anything.

Appreciate your post and some information that hopefully will be useful.

What is the best practice for setting a fixed IP? Assign a fixed IP in the router and leave the custom IP in the dock settings blank or add the same fixed IP from the router in the dock settings as well?

Router is imho the best option.

btw. I have a normal home Mesh WiFi with a few 3 APs + 2 repeater and just created a device monitor for my active Dock which checks every 5 seconds if it answers a ping or not. So I can check if there is a problem with WiFi and Dock in my system.

Your custom IP looks strange, here’s mine:

ws://192.168.1.105:946/

My dock IP is just set to the ip without a prefix like http://

This is the url which is used by the remote for communication. I now also monitor the status of the dock in the remote itself. It is now running for 9 hours and no failure.

After 4 hours with no issues I’ve put the UC back into production, thus far I’ve not seen the issue which was previously debilitating.

I will continue to monitor, but looking really good.

Thank you for the information.

Lost connection with dock. Could still access browser page via IP address. Had to power cycle the dock to reestablish connection to remote. This is same behavior as previously.

Any further tips welcome. I really thought things were going so well too.

I factory reset my remote and then restored configuration via backup. I now have the web socket url ws://192.168.50.75:946/ which I should add I didn’t input it was just 192.168.50.75 prior.

Will see how this goes.

Still dropping out with Web Socket. Back to the Harmony Elite :frowning:

How is your network? What power source & cable?

If these are ok this should be the result:

Hi @TeroS

I’m using a Belkin power supply and cable. I’ve also tried my Apple power supply and cable. When the drop outs occur I can access the dock webpage as per your photo and I can access the Web Configurator.

I’ve attached a recent screenshot, no days of uptime due to having to power cycle after each ad break to gain control of the IR on dock again. I’ve also tried the iR on the remote. My TV responds to it but my Beyonwiz T4 does not. I have to move about 50% closer than where my chairs are to have the IR received.

I have a ASUS RT-AX88U router, fixed addresses for the remote and dock. I run Home Assistant and have the whole place motorised and automated and these two UC products are the only trouble makers and as mentioned they both remain connected to the Wi-Fi.

I also purchased a TP-Link repeater yesterday to see if connecting the two offenders to a different radio would help and it did not.

Curious if you were able to resolve the issue with the dock losing connection. I am now having the same issue and the only solution is to power cycle the dock. The issue occurs with both Wifi and LAN. Not sure when this started to happen but it has never been a problem in the past.

Yeah I never had the issue until recently too. To answer your question, no it’s not resolved. I am arranging to ship the remote and dock back to DK to have it fixed.

Thanks. So you beliebe it is a hardware issue and not a software problem. I am wondering if the problem was introduced with one of the latest beta versions.

I think it is more likely a problem connected to the used WiFi net/mesh. I never had problems with any firmware. I also do not walk around with the remote in the house so normally both are connected to the same AP without the need of a hand over.

I only have a typical privat network with several APs/repeater from AVM here in Germany.

As I learned again recently it is only 2.4GHz and in cities this band might be very populated bei neighbors. I have almost no other network near my house.
