Wireless charging causing extreme heat

When I charge my remote 3 on a wireless charger, both the charger and remote get almost too hot to touch, this causes concern as I can’t leave it on the charger and leave the room. Has anyone else found this overheating issue? ps. this has happened with 2 different wireless chargers so I don’t think it’s a charger fault.

my remote gets hot too. but i think this is a normal behavior and you don’t need to worry about overheating or something like this.

Hello group here, and unfolded team,
This will be an issue with the battery dying - the issue is the software in the remote is continuing to charge even at 100% - it needs to be smart and stop at 100% and not charge until discharged for a long while - maybe even monitor temp.

If the battery is charged the remote will still pull power from the power source to run its system. Some chargers might think that the device is still charging while it’s actually not.

Since 2.7.2 additional information has been added to the charging screen to indicate if the remote is charging or just connected to a power source.

### Is there an existing issue for this? - [x] I have searched the existing iss…ues ### Description Since the Remote 3 cannot be charged using my PoE powered dock, I have found that my wireless phone charger will charge it (albeit upside down in the cradle). I notice that it never stops charging. Having left it on the charger over night, I can see from my HA graphs that it was fully charged by 1am, and when I looked at 9am it was still charging, and hot to touch. This cannot be right. My Harmony remote typically sits in the dock for most of the day, and my intention would be to use the Remote3 in the same way. I will need an additional charging dock to do this, as the one I have needs to be near the TV stack, and the charger needs to be near the sofa. ### How to Reproduce Put the remote onto the wireless charger. Wait until battery reaches 100% Check chaging state - still charging ### Expected behavior Charging state should be "not charging" or "discharging" ### System version v2.6.0 ### What part of the system affected by the problem? Overall system ### Additional context Presumably the charging system should be optimised to protect the longevity of the battery, especially if the remote is left on the charger for most of it's life - i.e. let it drain to a lower percentage (80%-90%?) before trickle charging back to 100% etc. Apple seem to do this on all their devices... my laptop is mostly used with a dock, and sits at 80% most of the time.

Seems to be the case. The word ‘charging’ is then left out of the display. I can see in Home Assistant that it now seems to switch been charging and not charging without a continuous amount of time in between (sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes).

Could the degree of heat be related to the remote’s contact with the charger? As in, if there’s a small gap between the two perhaps it’s creating heat. Mine is fully in contact with its charger and I don’t get much heat to speak of.
