Will these remotes ever become available to the open market?, will they ever become a reasonable price remote control?.What timeframe are we looking at?
Look at comparable remotes and you might find an answer. I think the price is OK. Search for the RRP of the Harmony Elite or the Sofabaton X2 and these are not near the R3 if it comes to flexibility and features.

If you’re looking for a more affordable remote, maybe look into the Sanytron Astrion.
It’s less flexible, dependent on continuous development by the manufacturer and less premium, but looks quite similar

I you want a remote now you should look for people here in the forum selling their remote. You might get them cheaper at least until the new pre-order prices are revealed.
Looking at the current state of UC with just 3 people (+1 support) I don’t think they have the budget to pre-produce units without any pre-orders. They might produce a few more each pre-order cycle. It’s probably a high risk if they can’t sell all units or there are production issues which cost them more money. But I’m not an expert on this topic.
It’s not a slight against the company at all, I had an unfolded circle remote 2, until it broke, I’m currently awaiting a part from uc to fix it.I just wanted to know, if it would ever take off?, or is it a niche product?
