If I have activity group with activities, what determines unfolded circle to show particular activity on or off?
Also, If I add media player entity of receiver to page, what controls on remote need to be used to turn on/off ?
I do not understand the 1st question. You start an activity then it’s on. I end an activity then it’s off.

I don’t think the remote “knows” an activity is on or off, it probably just remembers it has powered on an activity until it’s powered off.
If I reboot the remote control while in an activity, after it has booted it will show everything is off, regardless of state.
