Volume issues - With long press and with slider

Like so many others here, I am new to UC and am still trying to figure things out. So maybe I’m just doing something dumb here. I welcome any suggestions here!

I have:

  • Apple TV, using the native integration
  • Yamaha receiver, added from Home Assistant as a media player

The Apple TV is configured to control the Yamaha volume using HDMI CEC, so if I use my ATV remote it correctly adjusts the Yamaha volume. But I have 2 issues with my UC remote.

Issue #1: Long press not working

In my UC activity, I mapped the volume buttons (both short and long press) to the Apple TV volume. Both short and long press work, but only increment the volume incrementally. I would expect the long press to send a continuous volume up/down signal. I also tried mapping directly to the Yamaha volume and received the same response.

Issue #2: Slider doesn’t work

When I use the slider, it shows the Apple TV volume being adjusted on the remote screen. But nothing happens with the actual volume level.

#1 remove long press volume you disabled repeat with it.

#2 touch bar work in progress. At the moment it only works if a media player entity is in the activity and it is not yet configurable.

Btw. There is a community integration for Yamaha:

Thanks @HarmonyFan ! I will remove the long press!

As far as #2, the Apple TV is in the activity. And the remote thinks it is controlling it. I’m not sure why it is skipping the HDIM-CEC control?

Would the community Yamaha integration be better than porting my HA media player entity? My only concern is (if I understand correctly) that I would have to manually update the integration from time to time when it changes. I would prefer not to have “one more thing” to remember update. Thanks again for all of your help - I appreciate it.

As for everything with software. You are not forced to update you can decide if there are new interesting features.

I have neither Yamaha nor HA so I cannot say what is better.
