Trinnov Altitude + UC3 remote = How?

Are there any UC3 users here that are using it to control a Trinnov Altitude receiver?

Having some difficulty getting it to work using the integration available in the UC website. There is a long delay needed between powering the Trinnov on and when it becomes responsive again to input to be able to select which HDMI input to use. This is 1 min 10 sec in my case. Seems like the activity times out between 55-60 seconds so I can’t just enter a 70 second delay in an activity.

Am wondering how Trinnov users have setup their UC3 remotes so I can have some ideas on how to setup mine.

Am not using HA (yet!)

I don’t own a Trinnov but they probably do this with a manually triggered macro with the rest of the commands from the on sequence inside the activity.
There is an existing GitHub issue for this but so far no real fix for this has been implemented (Delay in Activity does not support more than 20 seconds. · Issue #137 · unfoldedcircle/feature-and-bug-tracker · GitHub)

@kennymc.c thanks for the tip. This is what I ended up doing which I am quite happy with (I have both a TV and a projector in the room)

It takes two clicks to get my system up and running

  • Click one: I have a group of activities where I select what screen to use. Although it is labelled as what screen to use, all it contains is the power up command to the Trinnov plus a 55 second delay

  • Click two: the remote then proceeds to provide me options to select what playback device to use. This activity powers on the TV or projector and the playback device. Importantly it also adds 15 seconds of delay so it can then proceed to send further commands to the Trinnov such as the preset volume and the HDMI input to use. Just have to figure out what the command is to select a particular sound preset.

So there is essentially 2 activities running on the remote. The drawback is that I have to press the power button twice on the UC3 to power off both activities. I feel this is a small trade off to be able to just click 2 buttons to power on the system. Need to make it simple for the wife and son to be able to use it.

Would love to hear what other UC3 users that have Trinnovs have done. Always good to compare notes.

If you add the first activity as an entity to the second activity you can also add the stop command for the first activity to the end sequence of the second activity.

I didn’t know that. Great idea!

Will definitely try that as soon as I figure out how to enter a stop command. How does one enter a ‘stop’ command?

Hi, my Trinnov is up and running within 55sec. Nvertheless I have also some HA scripts to power on and select source.

You find it when you search for commands after you added the activity to you entity list of the other activity. Search for the name of the activity you just added and you should see a command to start and stop the activity.

@kennymc.c mind blown! that worked brilliantly!

these are sucessive doors of enligtenment for me:

door 1 - realising activities can be entities

door 2 - realising activities can be placed inside an activity (as an entity)

and now door 3 - one can do a nestling of activities/entities within each other

@js-movie when did you buy your Trinnov? Is that the HDMI 2.1 model or the 2.0 model? What is the length of your boot-up time? Mine is 70 seconds long.

As I wrote, 55sec to boot the Trinnov. 3 Year old with HDMI2.0 board.
