Since 2 weeks commands only worms sometimes

My remote has hardly been working for the past 1–2 weeks.
“It says: ‘There is an error in the sequence.’”

I always use “TV on” and “TV off” to start or shut down all devices.
The setup includes a projector screen controlled via infrared, a Denon receiver, an Apple TV, and an Epson projector. Philips Hue lights are turned off at the end.

Up until about two weeks ago, there were occasional issues. Then mostly only “TV off” stopped working (with the same devices), and for the past 2–3 days, “TV on” has also failed in 8 out of 10 cases.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this?

When starting an activity you should see step x of y and x might give you a hint. If you configure the activity are all added entities ok or has one an error?

In the past, I occasionally had the issue that a specific step wouldn’t be executed, for example with the Hue lights. I then removed them and instead integrated a lighting scene via Home Assistant. That worked afterwards.

I also assigned a static IP address to all involved devices, which has solved many problems in the past, when the scene stopped on a step.

However, right now the error message appears immediately, without referencing any specific step.

When turning things on, the first command sent is an IR signal for the projector screen. When turning things off, other commands are executed first. That’s why yesterday I also moved the IR command to the first position for turning off (it works when turning on). But that didn’t improve anything.

You should create a ticket on GitHub and include the core and hue integration logs right after the error appears. Are you maybe using the old round v1 hue bridge? This is not supported anymore with the updated hue integration.

He just got stuck on the IR command. “TV on” worked fine—everything responded. After the movie, “TV off” doesn’t work. Step 1, the screen, doesn’t respond.

I have the exact same issue with the remote. Nothing changed, sometimes the sequence run, sometimes not.

Very unreliable and buggy software.

I have the Hue Bridge Pro.

Yesterday, after turning everything on, I put the remote control back into the docking station.
After that, when I turned everything off again, it all worked as it should.
Could this be related?

And how do I create a log?

Go to Settings/Development/Logs and choose core service and Hue integration from the first dropdown menu. Download the log right after the error appeared.
I assume you are using the latest beta 2.9.2? You need the new Hue integration because the old one before 2.9.1 doesn’t work with the Hue Pro Bridge.

I’ve tested it several times now.
Starting works fine. If I leave the remote lying on the table, I can use it normally — for example, controlling my Apple TV or adjusting the volume. But ending the TV scene doesn’t work. The infrared command triggers an error.

If I start my TV scene and then place the remote back into the charging station, I can end the TV scene without any errors.

I suspect there’s an issue here…

Sounds like the remote enters standby and drops the Wifi connections. You can change this behaviour by enabling keep Wifi connected in standby in energy saving settings. Look at the top right if you see a crossed out Wifi symbol. This means the remote has not network connection or currently trries to reconnect. You can also enable a settting to automatically retry a command x times if it fails. Thats handy for these situations but it currently doesn’t work for on/off sequences.
