I’ve had my Remote 3 setup for a bit now. Mostly happy, but one odd behavior I found is that th Back button for Shield integration doesn’t seem to work the same as it does on the triangle remote. It mostly works the same but when I’m in some apps (Kodi seeming to be the primary culprit) I’ll get into menus/screens where the triangle back will get me out of them, but the back on the R3 just bongs and I stay put. Anyone run into this, and got a solution?
How are you controlling the Shield?
Not entirely sure what you mean. I followed the integration prompts so, I presume maybe wifi?
I mean are you controlling it with the Android TV integration, Bluetooth or (if it’s not a Shield Pro or if it is a Shield Pro with a Flirc) IR?
Sorry, I can see you said Shield integration so that must be Android TV.
I use Bluetooth to control my Shield Pro. The back button works properly.
You can use a mixture of both integrations if you want in your activity and assign the Back button to the Bluetooth command instead of the Android TV one.
Or just use Bluetooth. I find it gives you more commands to play with.

If you use Android TV integration and Kodi App you must disable Joystick support in Add-ons/Pheripheral libraries like in this screenshot:

I’m out of BT slots so that’s as far as I can go. But I seem to recall you need to accept the pairing request on the Shield.
You don’t need to connect via Bluetooth. I’ve been using the integration for my shield TV since day one on the R2. It has worked for years. Behavior is the same on the R3 as well. Go into your activity and assign the “Back” command from your Shield source to the back button. Then try. Also, you can test in the actual entity by itself too. See if it works that way, then you know it’s your activity. FYI, I don’t really use Kodi, so not sure about that. But I know the back button works perfectly fine in both my activities and the device as standalone.
Not working for me, also fast forward or backward is not working. Also the menu button is missing.

Hmmm. Very strange. I would suggest removing the android TV integration altogether and then go through the setup again. Make sure the shield gives you a PIN. Once added back, make sure you add the entity to the integration afterwards.
