I was reading through some of the topics, but didn’t find what I was looking for.
Anyone got the Roon integration to controle a IR-based amp? I added the amp as a IR device in UC, and added the volume up & down through the learning capability. The amp doesn’t have the capability to be recognised by Roon as a device.
Is there any way to control the UC volume in the Roon app? I didn’t find anyway to get a UC volume control in the device set-up.
Can you describe your setup in a bit more detail. Are you using a Roon Ready streamer with an IR-controlled amplifier? If yes, you can create an activity and add both entities (I.e. the Roon integration and the IR entity for the amplifier) and customise the layout of the remote to your preferences, e.g. map the volume up/down buttons to the corresponding IR commands of the amplifier.
ok, my setup is roon server, to raspberry pi endpoint, to usb DAC, to the amplifier. My question is about the Roon app, not about adding the entities to the UC3 activities.
The volume control at the far right is thanks to the HomeAssistant integration. If I hit the + or - it fires an event to my HA.
What I want to know, have I missed anything about the UC3 - Roon integration, that would allow me not to rely on HomeAssistant. Does the UC3 Roon integration allow, similar to the HA integration, to add a Volume Control in the streamer’s setup, allowing to fire a volume plus or minus streight to my UC3 without having to rely on HA?
Hm. I am not 100% sure how the Roon integration works but I do not believe there is an option to customise the volume control logic. It probably relies on whatever is configured in Roon.
Isn’t there an option in Roon to change the volume control to some like “DSP volume”? Would that help?
There is indeed that option, next to Fixed or Device volume. None of those trigger anything in the UC3. With the Home Assistant integration, you get extra options appearing in the device setup, so when you press a volume button it triggers an event in HA.
It looks I have to accept keeping going through HA , not a biggie .
