My remote sits on the charging base when not in use. Even though it is physically connected to the base, it tells me the connection to the base is not established if I try to run any commands. Ive gone through the settings and made sure it doesnt go to sleep etc. But none of it works. I have to reboot the remote in order to use it. This is not acceptible. My family has resorted to using the individual device remotes. I do not know what to do. The remote is beautiful but it isnt functional. Is there something wrong with my remote?
R2 or R3? Which firmware? Which WiFi router?
Most problem concern the network and the settings. Old firmware did not support channel 12&13. WPA3 is not yet supported.

R3, full Unifi mesh network. Have tried auto, 5ghz and 2.4ghz. I also created a dedicated 2.4ghz network. None of which made a difference. Firmware is current. Full disclosure, I am an IT professional. My network is rock solid for all of my other devices. The base is wired via POE to a switch. I have tried going through the settings and turned off any thing that puts this remote to sleep. I don’t care how much battery it uses as it sits on a charging base. I just want it to respond when someone wants to use it. My security is WPA2/WPA3 so it’s backwards compatible.
WPA2/WPA3 should be backward compatible. It depends also on the client. Firmware current not a good answer for an IT pro. Remote is 2.8.1 and dock 0.8.1. Dock only has 2.4ghz. Do you use vlan? On discord a lot of discussions took place about unifi and there was a option mentioned that caused problems. I didn’t remember which as I don’t have unifi. Did you fixed the IP in your DHCP Server? Did you try fixed IP instead of mdns in the connection of the dock?
I found it here when searching for unifi. BSS transition might be a possible cause.

Firmware: 2.7.3… when I check for updates, it says its up to date. Just saw the 2.8.1 update. Downloading now. Maybe that will fix the issue.
Dock is 0.8.1. Both devices are staticed from the DHCP server.
Good luck.
Thanks. Miss the old days of Harmony remotes being plug n play.
To simple for me😎 I love my R2/R3 it is the first remote were I can control all my devices in my house out of my bed. Harmonies range was to limited.
This remote should not be a challenge for an IT pro🤣

Setup wasn’t the issue. It is the fact that it needs to communicate with the base for any functionality and it constantly loses its connection. I cant design the firmware it uses, just the network it runs on.
I love it. Only 2 of my 20+ devices need the dock. I have a simple mesh and not an advanced like unifi . What I hated about the Harmony was no way to add an home automation system beside Smart things.
I was in the beta group of Logitech and a lot of good ideas were rejected because they might cause an increased support demand.

My devices are in a cabinet so I need the base to send the IR commands. I understood what I was getting into buying an essentially beta remote that would improve over time. But it isnt usable if I have to reboot constantly. Hopefully the new firmware will make it more stable.
Is dock now connected? Please report if it fails again.
If possible I would switch to BlueTooth or IP integrations. If you do not know it here is auite a large list of already available integration:
Another idea before you get a heart attack. There is also a Broadlink integration which perhaps could replace the dock. I did not try it:

I am not using a dock anymore for my R2 and R3.
What little IR I need is handled by the wonderful Broadlink integration tied to an RM4 Pro.
The strength and range of its IR emitter make the UC docks look like paperweights.
I’m thinking of selling my R3 docks and possibly the R2 dock as well.
Thank you Ralf. Im using the Roku and AndroidTV (Sony) integrations. I appreciate the assistance.
Thanks Harvey. I will check the Broadlink transmitter out.
