Remote 3 combined with Dock - IR from both Mutually exclusive?

Have a bit of a mystery I’d like to solve. I have a IR device sitting in a bright spot.

With my Remote 3 and a Dock + IR blaster it’s difficult to control the device. The dock’s blaster are not effective so I assumed my remote’s built-in IR would operate the device better.

But that’s not the case. If I set in front of the device, remote in hand it does not operate my device.

Better yet, I thought maybe it’s my remote + dock setup, disables the remote’s IR blaster so I removed the dock from my setup. Now I get a error message on the remote “IR emitter not found”.

Even tried, with the dock removed from my setup, to create a new entity, and select the Remote’s IR but in the drop down I see “No Option Found”.

So the question is, why can’t I select my remote’s built in IR? is my remote’s IR not working without a dock? Is that a defect or by design?

Thank you
Zee

Have you enabled the remote’s IR emitter?
In the web configurator, it’s in settings-development-experimental features, or something like that.
I’m out of town so can’t access my remote to tell you the exact wording.
You need to restart the remote after enabling this.

Hi Harvey, yes, I found it to. And it works indeed. Do you have a dock as well? Do the IR blasters from the remote and dock work at the same time?

No, it’s either one or the other. I believe this is because of potential conflicting timings of the IR signal from both devices. You can select the infrared output device and infrared output port on your IR remote entity screen after you’ve enabled the remote IR in Settings->Development->Preview features.

One more, if I enable the feature, can you elect one entity via the RC, the other via the dock?

I haven’t tried that myself, however I believe that you can configure those settings independently on a per entity basis.

Cool, thanks, I’ll try, soon as I can re-add my dock to my configuration.
