Haven’t had issues with the R3, the R2 is another matter. Sticky buttons, dismal battery life, and screens prone to breakage on minimal impact. R3 is a vast improvement on all counts.
I thought I had battery issues with one of my R3s where it wouldn’t start up nor charge. After 4 months of charging it on and off, it finally started up again and works as well as my other ones in terms of battery life.
We are very pleased with the failure rates so far. The mechanical rigidity of R3 has improved significantly. We observed a few dead docks, but this was expected, as the dock is not shipped with a verified power supply.
@lutz, my experience with the R3 from a hardware perspective supports all of this. It seems better built than the R2. I especially notice the improved feel and positive touch of the buttons on the R3. Battery life is also improved.
The dock’s sensitivity to power is an issue … you should consider attaching a label to the internal packaging of the dock emphasizing what specs the power supply needs.
