Problem with learning a specific IR command for old Yamaha Amp - but all other commands are working?!

Hi all,

A relatively new R3 user (2 months), and I love it so far. After a few hiccups, I’ve got it working quite well with my home theatre. However, I started to have it learn my Living Room stereo and older Yamaha AX-596, and it successfully learned every command except one - the input select to CD/DVD. Everything else works, except this one command. I’ve already tried substituting the last hex code from 0 to 1 learned here that made my JVC Projector and JVC sVHS VCR work, but it didn’t work this time. I’ve even copied over my old Philips Pronto codes directly into the Web Configurator and it still doesn’t work. However, my old Philips Pronto works with my Amp on this command. So I think I’ve got the codes right; is the R3 emitter different from the original remote or Pronto? I just don’t get it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you try the generic codes from UC? Anther you’re for IR codes is global cache in the Internet.

Thank you, where would I find the generic codes from UC? Is the GlobalCache database site down? I can only get onto the home page, but the database tab and when I sign in its blank.

Simply say new IR entity, click continue, enter brand then you get a list of device classes like player, AVR and so on.

Thank you @HarmonyFan - ah yes, learnt that at the very beginning. The UC generic codes worked - didn’t have all the codes from my Yamaha remote, but that one problematic code for INPUT - CD worked. Now I just have to substitute that one code into my page/activities. Thanks again. All these little work-arounds aren’t for the faint of heart :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess I can’t just add that UC generic input button to my Yamaha entity? I can’t seem to figure out how to combine codes from different entities into one. I don’t want to use the UC generic Yahama entity as it lacks a lot of my remote commands. So do I have to create a Activity and both entities to create a user interface with both entities?

Simplest way use both entities.

A bit more complicated way I used with my Harmony Elite. I had a device which sends code from the remote then I put it in learning mode pointed remote to the dock and learned this command as a new command for another device. This way I saved one device which are limited on the harmony.
