Pretty Basic - Backing Up Remote - Blocked from Downloading

I just started setting up my remote 3 and I am still familiarizing myself with the web configurator and the remote itself. Other than getting everything online and adding two entities, I haven’t really dug into it yet, but before I did that, I thought it would be a good idea to know I can back up my settings, since I expect them to be dense.

Using Chrome with the configurator, I tried the simple task of backing up my setup. The browser blocked me from doing so, stating a warning “insecure download blocked”.

I am using an updated Chromebook, because I found using a laptop, sitting in front of my entertainment center would be the easiest way to update the remote to all the things I want it to do with my home theater.

Has anyone else had this simple issue occur and know of a workaround? This doesn’t give me confidence in how complicated setting up this remote is going to be when I can’t even get out of the starting gate by backing up my setup.

Just ignore the warning. It’s probably because the ssl certificate of the remote is self signed and not signed by a ca. For local devices in your network this shouldn’t matter. Most modern browsers are always asking when you try to download something from a new site you haven’t downloaded from before.

My Chrome on Windows offers the option “keep file" after the download and the I have the backup. Again on Windows Firefox does not block. On my Android tablet download is also not blocked by Chrome.

You can also take a look if there is a setting which prevents it.

Just an FYI for this situation, you cannot ignore it because the browser PREVENTS you from downloading the file to the laptop.

I’ll try another browser. I am hoping to use my laptop for convenience, but if I have to I will use my desktop PC in my office and just walk back and forth.
