Hi guys, interested in buying one of these remotes and I’ve been playing with the remote simulator and the hard ‘power’ button mapping confuses me as it’s not mappable to an activity, as far as I can see.
How do you use this in your setup? Thanks

The power button should be mappable. By default it’s used to stop an activity so maybe not a good idea to remap it.
But there are some buttons like Back or Home that also work for UI navigation and therefore the configurator warns you if you want the remap one of these buttons. But it’s still possible to map these buttons to other commands. The UI functions will then be used for the long press action if you didn’t remap this as well. So if you remap the power button you need to long press it to stop an activity.
Ok that’s what I was hoping it would do! Do you get a ‘are you sure’ notification? Or is it a hard switch off?
On the button mapping page it says nothing is mapped to that button, but I assume that’s actually not the case then.
As I say I’m only using the simulator so it may be different for a live unit.
You get warnings for Back and Home but not for Power if you map these buttons. I’m not sure if this intended for Power or a bug but all 3 buttons are used for system functions by default. If nothing is mapped the system functions are automatically used and if you map them the system functions will be trigged with a long press.
A beta release for a new web configurator was announced for Q3 so there will be some changes in the future like additional double press support. A video from UC gives you a good overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcGJH8z9hM8
This is great, thank you!
One last question regarding the home assistant integration - is there a way to bring in automations to trigger from the remote or is it only entities one has access to?
Thanks again.
There are two HA integrations. The one that’s included in the simulator is for controlling devices in HA with the remote. The other one is a community integration to control the remote itself and integrate into HA (GitHub - JackJPowell/hass-unfoldedcircle: Home Assistant Integration for the Unfolded Circle Remote Two)
You can create scripts in Home Assistant, which are effectively automations.
You can then map these scripts to buttons, the on and/or off sequence in an activity and macros on the R2/3 which will then trigger them.
Ah ok I can’t see any of my automations coming up on the integration tab to assign. Where can I do this?
Automations won’t show up. But scripts will.
