Hello, for the remote 2 I missed the kick starter and signed up for the pre-order but never got an invitation to order. For the Remote 3 I did what I thought was a pre-order again cause it said availability first quarter 2026. I checked the card I used and the payment for the remote has gone thru. Does this mean I’ll be getting the remote early a little bit confused of how this works and is there somewhere to check order status. Thanks
To get remote 3 earlier you would need to have backed the Kickstarter campaign last year.
I missed the Kick starter, but it looks like they shipped to 85% of the backers and will start shipping orders in December, So sometime between now and January. It looks like they are in a better position then they were with the Remote 2 in regards to production and actually delivering the product.

When you go through the pre order process you can see the estimated shipping date in the last step. Currently it’s the second half of Q1 2026.
That’s a while to wait for something that is already paid for, Any ways it gives UC more time to work out some of the issue’s being described here. One question though will I get notification and tracking when it does ship?

yes in the US and some of the local shipping companies suck so if I don’t know to be on the look out for it I won’t be able to track it down to the empty field they deliver it to.
I am in Germany and I read that UPS charges customs fees. Is that true?
Not in the EU. It it drastic in the US and I think UK.

Since it’s going to be a while was thinking of setting up the simulator in a docker container. Is it a current version of the web interface to get familiar with?
As another data point - I’m U.S. based and just got my remote a couple days ago. Shipped via FedEx, got a notification when it shipped. Took just over two weeks in transit, and no additional fees or tariff charges. Simple.
I ordered mine in August and it got here Thursday. But once I got the notification that it was shipped it only took a week. Yeah it sucks waiting so long. But the remote is beautiful feels solid. Worth the wait.
Yes, the current core-simulator image even includes feature that are not yet available in the firmware like voice assiant support for Home assistant according to the changelog.
To control the remote you also need the UC Remote app (GitHub - unfoldedcircle/remote-ui: Qt frontend application for Remote Two). I wouldn’t use the VM image provided by UC as it only includes a very old version of the Remote UI app. As also the latest release in the remote-ui repo is outdated you should compile a static app yourself as explained in the readme.
I think if Unfolded Circle wants to supply people, then they need to deliver faster; only then can they build a customer base in the long term.
Waiting two months for an order, even though the money has already been debited, is unacceptable.

It takes time to order the parts. Ordring them in advance without any pre-order is a high financial risk for a small company (yes, higher than you personal risk of paying in advance). UC delivered their products in 3 Kickstarter campaigns. If you don’t want to pre order you even have to wait longer if the product will ever be on stock in normal resale. Keep in mind this a total niche product and not cheap to produce.
Perhaps someone from UC could start a thread updating whats the progress status of our orders. Something simple like “now shipping orders placed between 10-23-2025 and 10-30-2025” maybe a once a week update.

I am aware of that, including the financial risk. I just hope the situation improves, because I fear the company will lose market share if it doesn’t serve its customers quickly.
And yes, I have ordered two.
Helo4 and RTI are serious competitors, even if their products are more expensive.
