One drop, worthless

A warning to anyone who expects the remote two would have been made durable.

Spent way too long trying to find a working IR set for my AVR-540bt. Finally resorted to learning commands from my working Sofabaton X1 and got it partially working. One two foot drop later this thing is worthless.

My harmony one has been dropped countless times over the decade I’ve owned it without problem.

Doesn’t even look that nice :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Have you contacted support? Maybe this can be fixed relatively easily by replacing the display.

I’ve got one. It looks better that I thought it would. Definitely gives protection and gives a less slippery feel to the grip.

Only downside is the bit you have to flip up at the bottom so it will fit into the dock. But it’s better than an unusable remote with a broken screen.

I just ordered one, not that I’m too worried about dropping it as the area I use it is all carpeted. While I was very pleasantly surprised when I got the R2 seeing such a well physically designed device with very nice aesthetics I subsequently found it a little awkward too use. The metal finish is very nice but quite slippery and often it slips out of my hand and sometimes causes me to press the wrong button. I’m hoping this case looks ok and makes it less slippery.

Same happened to me. The correct way to get it fixed is by contacting support via e-mail. It was EUR 150,-- for me including service (instead of self-repair) and shipping.

I slipped mine from the countertop of the kitchen and it smashed on the floor upside down. A piece of the display broke out. Might be, that the LCD of the R3 takes it better. And as the back of the R3 is not completely made out of metal it might be not that slippery.

Repair process took a while but was fine.

Yes, same happened to me, also. And yes, best way is by contacting support via e-mail, they offer self-repair with the spare parts or a repair at UC support. My choice was the repair at UC support. This will took some more time, but it was fast (one to two weeks) and really excellent.

I just got the case and it fits the R2 perfectly! Although it is 3D printed it looks quite nice and in the front the brushed metal is only covered a little bit below the display. The bottom of the case flips out of the way to put it into the hub to charge. It is also much less slippery than the native metal finish.

Would anyone in the EU be interested in 3D printing this and sending it to Finland? I could pay e.g. 20€ plus shipping

I have occasionally ordered 3D prints through Treatstock. You can upload your 3D model, check/correct the dimensions and then you can see prices from suppliers nearby. You can also choose the material/color.

Will you guys be prinitng a case for the R3?
