Not using the remote at all - Home Assistant

Hey All

I’m new here nice to meet everyone. The circle remote 3 is gorgeous and with little kids who currently abuse my Logitech harmony (which is dieing) I don’t particularly want to give them the circle 3 to use.

So using home assistant I’ve managed to configure the circle 3 remote to essentially act as a blaster enabling me to control my LG TV, Marantz AVR and my Apple TV using my ATV remote which I’m happy to give my kids, however it means that I have to keep the remote docked, charging and hidden. I was wondering if there is anyway around this either by native configuration or some kid of a hack?

The plan is once the kids become less destructive lol I’ll release the remote.

Thanks all

Is it only the LG TV, Marantz AVR and Apple TV that needs to be controlled? If so, why not just have the Apple TV remote control all 3 devices (configure HDMI-CEC to on). Unfolded Circle shouldn’t be needed if it’s only these 3 devices (assuming HDMI-CEC works fine for those 3 devices).

My kids know they are not allowed to touch “my” remote. They can still use the ATV remote or the old Harmony. I created a Home Assistant automation to keep the state of the Harmony and UC3 in sync so if one remote turns the system on, the other remote can turn it off.
