New IR-Blaster for existing customers?

Only if we (R2 backer) are NOT backing the R3?

I believe so.

As you are already getting a deal by backing the R3.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Just got the email with the link and have ordered.

I’m a bit disappointed that these won’t start shipping until February 2025.

This is well after the R3 backers will be getting their orders.

Considering I backed the R2 in September 2021, I would have thought we R2 owners should get priority so we can finally get close to a fully functioning remote ASAP.

These add-ons are needed to compensate for the R2’s IR design flaws. This should be addressed now.

We’ve been waiting a very long time…

@marton I hoped the email would clarify it, but it didn’t - how does the blaster for dock 2 work exactly, i.e. does it need an additional external power supply?

Yes, exactly, I bought the remote 3 in late
pledge (shipped Dec. 24) and waited for the link for the dock 3 (shipped Feb. 25) for a long time in between. With your own email address. you could also send them together.

In agreement that the Remote 2 IR blaster should be free as the R2 dock is useless for IR. €10 isn’t too bad, but €19 postage on top makes it ridiculous. I am alone in thinking this?

No, you’re not.

R2 owners who don’t want to fork out for an R3 just so they can have a remote that works should be catered for first and in theory for free. I’d happily swallow the shipping fee if I thought UC was acting for my best interests.

Waiting yet another 6 months for a solution (hopefully that works) is just not fair.
Especially taking into account I have already been waiting almost 3 years.

I am more than pssed about this behaviour. I have my R2 since 6 months and cannot use it, because it still has bugs, I am waiting for some of the delayed roadmap items and the internal IR blaster on the dock is simply crp.

Now, I’ve got to wait another 6 months for what should have been a FOC immediate fix.

If I wouldn’t like the concept so much, I would be out already, but the IR blaster is the last chance. Three friends (all EX Logitech users in desperate need for a replacement) have already refrained from this product because of what they read online and what I’ve experienced when setting it up.

If the IR blaster doesn’t fix the poor (essentially non-existing IR signal) and all of the bugs are fixed by then, I will just sell it and never look back. A year of hassle is enough by then. Especially for the price.

Announcing the R3 so shortly after the R2 does anyway not inspire a lot of trust. Especially as the hardware is incompatible to R2 …

Im in Australia, and shipping is an outrageous €59!
This company is having an absolute laugh.

Can any other IR blaster be used with this R2 with good results?

No kidding on the shipping. A €10 part costing €29 in shipping is just arrogant. Provide a regular mail option (at receiver’s risk) rather than courier.

As usual, UC proves that they are good engineers without a whit of common sense or customer service orientation.

If they were good engineers I wouldnt need to order an IR Blaster in the first place.
I wont be ordering this. Fool me once.

While everytime my wife uses the remote at the slightest angle and the TV doesn’t turn on or there is a delay in the two IR blasters I built and quick power drain, I share the sentiment.

I hated the cost for postage for the 10 eru blaster (that I was hoping would be able to be combined into the R3 shipping), but did it. I don’t know what list price will be, but it still won’t be a big dent compared to the high postage.

As a usual critic, there has been good progress, and the harmony hub on remote can be a game changer - particularly on the blasting front - and Unfolded does not set postage which is ridiculous everywhere for non book rate materials. I’m certain postage is not a profit maker. even if the IR blaster fix should have been built in. There is progress.

I have mistakenly deleted the email that contained the offer. Please consider posting the link if kosher. Thanks.

I would write to the support as I guess the link is unique for every user
