Maintaining WiFi connection

Would appreciate guidance - my new R3 remote won’t maintain a wifi connection for more than 10 mins or so … or can’t find totally findable wifi networks. I don’t know if it’s a hardware issue or a software issue, but it’s making the remote useless. I am using an Asus router (XT8), with numerous nodes/access points around the house - but a perfectly strong signal in the room that I want to use the remote in. Can’t find the 2.4GHz network at all, and the 5GHz network won’t stay connected for long. HELP.

If not used for a certain time the remote goes to bed and needs several seconds if you pick it up. When you have an activity running I would configure prevent sleep for the activities.

2.4ghz channel < 11 and WPA2.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no it’s not this.

It will lose connection while it’s being used… middle of an activity … and then it can’t see the network or reconnect; I may need to reboot or delete the network and re-add it to get it going again.

It’s as if the antennae aren’t strong enough for a solid connection.

I use 2.4ghz and have 72mbit connection with the AP upstairs through a concrete ceiling. More than enough. The range of 5ghz is quite a bit shorter. I have separate SSIDs for both bands and a mesh system.

Did you activate prevent sleep?

Ralf

I had a similar problem. All my devices showed a very good Wi-Fi connection. Except for the Remote 3.

I have a router from AVM (Fritzbox). There I set the security settings to WPA2 + WPA3.

The router’s security settings include the option “Optimize Wi-Fi security settings for increased compatibility with older Wi-Fi devices.”

When I activate this option, I suddenly have good reception with the Remote 3.

What is your router set to? WPA3? Try WPA2.

And WiFi channel must be < 10 ! (according to support)

Thank you HarmonyFan and wwwiii - I adjusted the channel (I was on channel 12) and now the remote can see my 2.4Ghz network, and stay on it!. Thank you for the help!
