Issue with Remote 3 - In particular IR

Hey all,

New user here but been in this line of interest for years and years.

Before ordering the remote 3, I wanted to make sure it could learn IR codes just like many others berfore it, my 2 Harmony remotes, and Sofabatton etc. And I read that it could on the main page.

Infrared

Send infrared commands right from the remote’s built-in powerful IR blaster for well-known IR protocols.

In case you need to learn a code, the remote can also decode the popular IR protocols. 1

And also further down the page here

Infrared

Built-in IR LED

IR receiver for learning

However, when trying to add any IR code manually, all I get is errors

Infrared output device - No output device available WTF does this mean?

Any help appreciated but I am almost at the point of this going back if such an expensive piece of kit cannot do the simple things that most cheap universal remotes can.

Cheers

Royski

At the moment only Dock can learn at lot, not all, IR codes.

The Dock can also send IR. The remote can send, not yet learn, IR if enabled in settings, development, preview features.

So effectively a load of BS on their product page?

https://unfoldedcircle.com/ where it specifically states it has this functionality?

Although what I am seeing after adding a device from their DB, I cannot even send IR either.

WOW, just WOW.

Ok, phew, I take it back. It does do it, although I found this instruction nowhere.

You found it 2 posts above:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Yeah cheers, I didn’t get that part, my apologies, still new to these menus.

But at least I can use it for some things, and use HA for those that I cant.
