Hi. So I use IR pretty heavily with remote 2/3 setup. And I’m using an IR repeater that is fed into multiple blasters and direct 3.5mm connections. I have had this setup for 2 years now without any issues for the most part. Basically, what I do is feed a 3.5mm cable into the IR repeater “receiving” input and connect this directly into one of my IR ports on the dock. Then several blasters and direct connections are running off the repeater. Some are blasters and some are 3.5mm to 3.5mm connections to my AV equipment’s IR input ports.
Anyhow, I wanted to use one of my dock 3 models with this same configuration, that works flawlessly on the dock 2. Well, no matter what I do and how I connect this, I cannot get a read on the IR repeater at all. Both ports never detect anything being plugged in. I’ve tried auto mode, manual mode, etc. The dock 2 can only support this, is what I’m finding. So, my question…does the dock 3 output less power off the ports compared to the dock 2? I’ll look up the specs, but my understanding is that the dock 3 was more “powerful”. Also, I’m powering my dock 2 via direct USB cable into a power strip. No AC adapter. I’ve tried the dock 3 with this same cable and also tried with an actual power brick instead of just direct USB cable. No such luck.
Anybody have any insight? I don’t mind using my dock 2, as I can feed the more powerful blasters off of the dock 3. Just curious about this.
