Hoping to get complete IP control of my Sony TV

Hi,

I have got my Remote Two working pretty well for me after not too much effort. I currently have my Denon AVR, Epson Projector, and nvidia Shield all completely IP controlled. My Sony TV (A95L) is the standout problem. I have it largely IP controlled via the Sony Bravia Home Assistant integration. Most of what I want works this way, but I cannot change the TV channels when watching Free-to-air digital TV without going to IR control. I realise that this requires Media Browsing on the Media Player entity within the Home Assistant integration, and that this is not supported. If I could get this working I would never have to worry about IR signals again.

So my questions are

  • Is there an obvious way of doing this that I haven’t realised?
  • Are there any plans for Unfolded Circle to add media browser support to the HA integration?
  • Are there any plans from Unfolded Circle or anyone else to create a native Sony TV integration that could do this without going through HA? (this would probably be the ideal solution).

Thanks.

My TV from Philips works with Android TV. Sadly the real TV functions are not directly supported. Most functions are realized with Apps. What I did is I opened the TV entity on my R2/3 and then used the original remote to watch TV. The remote entity then shows the App which is currently running and this can then hopefully used as an input of the R2/3.

Yes, general media browsing support is on the Roadmap (Media browsing · Issue #70 · unfoldedcircle/feature-and-bug-tracker · GitHub)
