I have a Remote 3 and two docks. Getting no where with setup. I have a Sony TV, Denon AVR , Panasonic Disc player and xfinity cable interface. Are there any consultants out thewre to help? I am located in New Mexico USA.
I don’t think there’s an integration to control that one…
That one can only be controlled manually, by hand.
Are you using Home Assistent? Did you check to see if there is an integration for your Panasonic Disc player? If this was my setup I would use the Home Assistent integration for the Sony TV, the unfolded circle integration for the Denon and if possible a Home Assistent integration for the Panasonic Disc Player.
Just look on Discord in community-projects for integrations. There also is one for Panasonic Blu-Ray players but it needs a modified firmware to work.
I have a Panasonic Disk Player as well. I control it by IR commands.
Looks like everyone keyed in on the Panasonic player and not the greater issue of general setup. So yeah, there’s a learning curve.
Best advice I can give on initial setup is to work left to right on the Web Configurator. Add your entities first. Maybe just start with your TV to get the hang of it. Next, Integrations.
Big thing to keep in mind with this remote - it’s best as a web-controller remote, not a traditional infrared remote. It sends the commands over your network when able, not IR. For a lot of the integrations, you’ll see two remote options - a remote and a media center. Generally, I’ve found the media center version to be the better one to build my activities around. That has the more sophisticated web commands. For example, because it’s a two-way information stream, it knows which apps I have on my TV. So if I want to switch from Netflix to YoutubeTV, I’m able to create buttons for those apps, rather than the IR remote style of pressing “Menu” scrolling over a few times, and pressing “Enter” to change apps. It’s really cool. I would recommend enabling only the “Media Center” remote if the integration has two options. I’ve never needed the conventional remote for any of my activities.
Then for your activities - I think this is probably the most straightforward part - especially if you’re coming from a Harmony. One note (and this may have been updated since I did my configuration): you have to map EVERYTHING. Even basic commands like, up/down/left/right on the cursor and volume. Even if you have the right integration, nothing will work without the mapping.
All that said, I’m lucky in that all of my gear works off integrations. I have one dock and don’t use it at all for IR blasting. It sounds like you may not be so fortunate with the Panasonic player. I recommend setting that up last, as it’s probably one of your more complex activities, utilizing TV, IR for the player, and your receiver.
Best of luck!
Than you so much for all your input!
