I have Google TV integrated via the built-in integration, but I can’t figure out what’s the correct config for the back action as with its own remote. I tried “Back” and “Previous” etc, but they all prompt me to exit my TV app (whereas the Google TV remote itself will just go to previous screen).
Is there return or exit as a command?
No, unfortunately no such commands. I’ve tried all the remotely plausible options, but no luck.
Which TV is it? i am using the native Android TV via IP (not BT) and i have “Back” Button that works with no issues.
It’s the latest Google TV Streamer (external box).
The question was which integration you used to pair the streamer. Bluetooth or Android TV.. Android TV has a back command.
It’s the Android TV native integration. Not Bluetooth.
I cannot check I only have real Android TV. In the source I did not see a reason.
The Back button within the Android TV integration works for me on my Google Streamer. If I’m using Directv Stream App selecting the Back command takes me to the DTV menu. Selecting Back twice prompts exiting the app, much like selecting the Home button. Also tried Amazon Video and HBO Max with similar results. Perhaps the behavior you’re seeing is App dependent? Which App are you using?
It’s definitely working different for me. For example, if I’m playing a YouTube video, the back button only shows the controls, but does not go back to the front page.
However, I have now paired the Google TV via the Bluetooth integration (also due to it taking forever for the Remote 3 to reconnect to WiFi), which seems to work better. Although now I have the issue that after some minutes (10’ish?), the Remote seems to send some kind of signal that automatically makes the Google TV to go back to home (feels like maybe it’s the Remote going to sleep and disconnecting from BT - this doesn’t happen if I power off the Remote 3 fully).
