Dock shows weak power

Hello,

my dock keeps displaying “weak PWR 4.88V” intermittently. I can’t explain it. It’s powered by an Anker 30W USB-C power adapter. The only modification I’ve made is connecting two IR extenders to the dock. I have two because I ordered the Remote 3 with two docks. I’m also still struggling with some IR devices not switching correctly. Has anyone else experienced this issue of a low voltage reading? Thanks!

Are you using the cable that came with he Dock? Also try a different power supply just in case the Anker is not providing a stable voltage all the time.

Yes, I’m using the original cable. I’ve also tried two other power adapters: a 20W Anker adapter and the original iPad power adapter. Which power adapter do you recommend, ideally with an Amazon link?

I don’t have any recommondations for a power supply. It just has to meet the power specifications of min. 2.5A 5V. Anker is a known brand for good quality so it might also be the Dock thats faulty. Before contacting the support you could try to power it through POE. BTW: Have you updated the Dock firmware to the recent 0.8.1 firmware? It might only be available in the beta channel right now.

I installed the new firmware this afternoon. Since then, I haven’t seen the power warning again. It didn’t appear all the time, though. Yes, I appreciate Anker for its good quality. I don’t think the dock is defective. Otherwise, I’d have a second one lying around unused. I’ll test that one before contacting support. I’ll wait and see if the new firmware has changed anything. Thank you.

Yes, I sometimes get the ‘weak power’ message, and mine’s plugged in to an Anker 65W USB-C dual power supply with super-fast charging. I’ve tried other power supplies, but it stiil occasionally displays the message - I just ignore it.

Look what the power supply delivers for 5 V it should be >= 2.5 A.

A 5V/30W power supply always delivers more than the required minimum of 2.5A. Therefore, I don’t see that as the problem. I haven’t encountered the message again with the new dock firmware. So I suspect it’s a bug.

Mine delivers 3.0 A at 5V.
