can’t get one of my two docks to connect to Wi-Fi. No chance, it just won’t connect. With a network cable it works.
I’ve been trying for 5 hours now to get this dock onto Wi-Fi. I’ve even reset it and tried over and over again.
I give up and will send it back.
Are you experiencing similar behavior?

I always connected my docks with a cable and configured WiFi with the web configurator. I gave all my devices a fixed IP in my router and use IP instead of name in the remote.
I tried and did all of that, but unfortunately it didn’t work.
I reset my other dock too to factory settings and tested it with that one. It worked without any problems, so I have to assume that the first dock is defective.
FW on both: 0.8.0
Make sure to connect to a 2.4Ghz WIFI network at first connect.
Jep, I used the 2,4Ghz but no Connection was possible.
The second dock works fine without any wifi issues.
Yeah, I just wrestled with the same issues on my newly arrived R3 and dock. Couldn’t get on the WiFi either from the remote nor using the configurator. Got the latest firmware (as of this moment) on the remote and dock. Rebooted both between attempts. Remote is on the 2.4Ghz network that the dock is attempting to connect. Extremely frustrating.
Then as a last ditch effort before just using ethernet (not ideal for my installation) which, like for you, works. I looked into Improv. See https://support.unfoldedcircle.com/hc/en-us/articles/20081754782876-Dock-3-Bluetooth-LE-setup .
With Improv I was able to connect the dock to my 2.4Ghz WiFi. Yay!
Next was the matter of connecting the dock to the remote. No matter what I tried, the remote could not discover the dock. So I tried manually connecting them. See https://support.unfoldedcircle.com/hc/en-us/articles/20018912602524-Manually-add-a-Dock-in-the-Web-Configurator .
As explained in the linked doc, the key is that the URL required is not simply the IP address. The IP address has to be dressed up like
ws://$IP/ws
where “$IP” is the assigned IP address of your dock.
Shouldn’t be that hard, but maybe this helps.

Thank you very much for the tips.
I just tried it again, just like that.
And what can I say — today it suddenly worked, really crazy.
What did I do beforehand? Since I was having issues this week anyway, I deleted the Hue integration and restarted the remote several times. Today it worked right away.
Great, one problem less!
Tried to connect to my WiFi in the Web Configurator
“Service is currently not available, please try later.”
Did you do as @HarmonyFan suggested and connect your dock using ethernet, then configure wifi via the web configurator, then unplug the ethernet? This approach worked for me.
I have the dock connected via Ethernet. So I have to disconnect it after configuring WiFi?
Yes assuming you want to connect the dock using WiFi. If you are able to connect it using ethernet in the location you need to site it then why would you use WiFi at all?
I have configured it near my Mac, but my viewing area does not have easy Ethernet access. WiFi is much more convenient
In that case yes - remove the ethernet cable once you have configured Wifi, restart the dock and it should connect to your WiFi network. At that point you should be able to access the dock using the web configurator over WiFi
