Hi all — hoping someone’s run into this or can point me in the right direction.
I just upgraded from an AVR-X2800H to the new AVR-X3900H, same Remote 3, same setup process (Telnet mode, Network Control set to Always On). On the X2800H everything worked great — volume changes from the remote showed up live, and I had volume assigned to a slider control in the web-configurator.
Since swapping to the X3900H:
- Adjusting volume via the remote’s buttons doesn’t show any live volume value anymore
- When I go into the web-configurator to assign a slider control to the AVR entity, “volume” isn’t even offered as an option anymore
Everything else about the integration seems to work fine (power, input switching etc), it’s just volume feedback and slider assignment that have gone missing.
Given how new the X3900H is (only released this May), I’m wondering if it just isn’t fully recognised yet by the integration’s model list and is falling back to a reduced feature set. Has anyone else got an X3900H (or X2900H) working with full volume feedback? Or is this a known gap that’s being looked at?
Happy to pull logs or test things if it helps track it down. Thanks!
i am on the same firmware, i have marantz cinema 30 and it is working perfectly.
for the slider, you do have to configure it in the activity setup for the slider to control the AVR volume, have you checked there?
(i can send you screenshot if you need)
how did you set up your AVR, telnet or HTTP? and to confirm, it does actually control the volume but you saying you dont see the change on the remote itself but you do on the AVR?
And yes, definitely check AVR Maestro for Denon Marantz, it will change your experience. for sure.

You find the slider config in button setup and I think you must have added the Mediaplayer entity to your activity.
AVR Maestro is quite new and you have the author here with @M.a.S.e
he is to shy to mention it.

I do have the remote added. I’ll check maestro now.
I actually had to add the AVR network receivers for it to actually work. I’m sure before I’ve added the remote.
Thanks for your input and help guys. All sorted.
awesome, glad it worked out.

A little tip. Best support for R3 and AVR Maestro can be found on discord.
