I am trying to setup the remote and am getting extremely frustrated. All I want to do is control 3 activities: 1. Roku 2. My satellite box (Dish Network) 3. Android TV. This should be an extremely simple setup. Yet I cannot event get the startup sequences to communicate properly. I added my entities. I am trying to just use the power on buttons from each of my remotes because the Sony integration does not allow for changing inputs. But sometimes, the activities do not even update properly. I will make a change and the remote does not update. I really do not know what to do. I dont want to return the remote, I really want to keep it but I cant if it does not work for my needs. PLEASE HELP!
What do you mean by not updating? What Sony integration have you tried?
I mean the activity does not update when i make changes to the sequencing. I am using the AndroidTV integration.
So you’re making chnages in the start or stop sequences and when you start or stop the activity not all commands get executed? Or is the web configurator not showing the commands you just added to the sequence?
The latter. I will remove an entity via web connector and it will not update in the remote. So when I run the activity, it will still try to run the old command. So bizarre.
Kenny, maybe I the way I am thinking of this is all wrong. I am coming from the Harmony ecosystem. I am used to adding my devices (entities) and then configuring activities using those devices. The new wrench in all of this are activity groups. Groups are supposed to remember what is turned on and off. But in my case, it doesnt. So if I run the roku activity and then switch to AndroidTV or Satellite, it should just change the input, but it instead shuts off the tv.
I think I figured out the issue, I have been adding groups to my remote, not activity groups. Are they the same thing?
Nope, despite the similar name activity groups and the groups you can create in the customize your remote section have nothing to do with eaach other.
How do I add an activity group to my remote?
Go to Activites and Macros and click on the activity groups tab.
There’s a long support article from UC how they work (https://support.unfoldedcircle.com/hc/en-us/articles/13215168236188-Activity-groups) but in fact you just need to add all activites that can be on at the same time into one group. Thats it. No need to add them anywhere.
Kenny, I understand how to add activities to activity groups. How to I add the activity group to the remote? I only see how to add entitiess and groups.
As I said you don’t have to add them. If you created an activity group and added activities to it you’re done.
I got it. Thank you for your help. I figured out that my IR satellite box only responds if I press the command from the remote a few inches away. Any idea why the IR blaster from the dock isnt working?
Check the following:
Is the IR blaster properly set up and detected by the dock (check in the web UI)?
Is the blaster selected as an output device in the IR entity?
Where do I check to see if the ir blasters are being detected in the web ui?
where did you get codes for the Dish Network box?
Global Cache.
