Can the IR eye cable be extended?

I can control my projector with one of the IR eyes connected to the dock; but the projector is on the ceiling and to tug the cable away I would need to extend it by 5 to 6 meters. Can I simply use a 2.5mm jack extension cable on the infrared cable?

I read about the IR signals being weak so was wondering if an extension cable would degrade the signal or, since it’s just a led at the end of a powercable, would extending it not influence the signal strength?

Hello Ivo,
here you may find some ideas to improve the IR functionality.
Since the output impedance of the LED driver is relatively low, it should not be a problem to lengthen the IR cable by a few metres.
