Can I dumb the R2 down?

Hi,

I love the hardware, amazing job guys, but I find the o/s frustrating. All the logic for controlling my A/V, media and my smart home in general lives in Home Assistant / Node Red.

Whilst I can interact with this from my R2, triggering HA scripts and NR sequences I find myself fighting with R2 that wants to enforce its own handset-side logic :rage:

Is there a we I can bypass this logic and dumb down the remote to just provide a UI for those of us that backed off all automation tasks to our home automation systems? :crossed_fingers:

All I want from the remote in addition to the HA integration is the screen design and navigation capability.

Might want to try to add a page to your user interface that is just a series of simple triggers for your home assistant ?

Thanks, but I’ve tried adding activities that either call HA scripts or link directly to a HA button entities. I think this the only way that I can get to a “source level” page, where I can define a UI and remap buttons and this is where the handset seems intent upon enforcing its logic.

I’ve kinda worked around it by having an off sequence linked to a dummy button entity I’ve created in HA. It all a bit messy though and not a great UX.

Appreciate the input though :+1:

Agree it would be great to have the ability to run a script and jump to the main or any page. It would be a killer feature to kill off features.
