Thanks! That definitely changed things. The volume now works. The remote can go to sleep and it works again afterwards. I can jump between different integrations and volume still works when returning to Bluesound. I can put the remote in the dock for charging and volume works for Bluesound when picked up again.
I know there are many more things to be tested on the Remote 3 - I’m still learning how to use it and hopefully I can be able to test more in the future when I get to know the remote better.
