Allowing independent assignment of Volume Up/Down/Mute seems extremely niche, most people will want a single device to handle all 3. Would be handy if the button assignment configurator allowed this option (there are probably other groups where this would make sense. Maybe a quick wizard asking which device for volume control, which for cursor control could set initial defaults that’d work for many people?).
This type of thing has been called “audio punchthrough” in other universal remotes and would be great to have here as well.
I don’t think punchthrough is what the OP wants. He’s asking for an intuitive button mapping wizard for activities. Punchthrough, as I understand, refers to button mapping outside of activities. Volume buttons are already “punched through” to normal profile pages if you have a media player entity in you activity.
Right, I’m not talking about the functionality, it’s definitely possible to assign volume up/down/mute to different devices, but it’s kind of annoying needing to do all three buttons separately. I’d guess 99% of people will want them assigned to the same device, so it’d be more intuitive (and easier) to select a single device for all volume related buttons.
Same could be true of the cursor buttons.
This isn’t a deal breaker or anything, it obviously works just fine without this, but when I compare the experience to the harmony setup, this is clearly worse and could be improved.
