I’ve had my Remote 3, no dock, just a few weeks and can confirm that it gets extremely hot no matter what wireless charger I use, and I’ve tried quite a few from pretty old ones to some recent ones including a Google Pixelsnap and an Anker MagGo Qi2 Power Bank - the Pixelsnap is the worst as it makes the remote almost unbearable to hold until it cools.
I’ve been monitoring it with Home Assistant (HA) and the charging profile is simply aggressive
It didn’t stop charging until I happen to spot it when I woke up in the night - I don’t the remote is truly powering down. Something I’ve not seen mentioned in threads is “wake on LAN”, because this actually works. Even though I can’t ping or connect to the device on the network, it’s actually still “connected” as proven by checking my Unifi console. The WoWLAN actually works as I can wake up the remote via HA - probably the first wireless device I have owned that supports it and actually works.
I’m working on an HA automation to keep an eye on the charging and to switch it off when it’s been sat at 100%, then later if the remote’s LAN wakes up or at set intervals HA wakes it up, it will switch the charging back on if it’s too low.
