Hello everyone I still haven’t had time to configure my Remote 3, but I finally need to. The remote will be used primarily for home theater. It consists of a few pieces of equipment. Philips 77OLED818 (Google TV) Denon AVC x3800h Pioneer Integrated Amplifier A-40AE Hama DIT2006BT Radio SAT VU Solo 4K Decoder Homatics Box R 4k Plus (Android TV) Ugoos AM6b+ (Coreelec) I don’t quite understand how this works. When I try to add a new device, it searches for my devices and theoretically finds my TV and Denon AVR. I assume that in this case, these devices are controlled via IP? I started tinkering with Denon but noticed that I only have access to source selection, such as BLU-RAY, Radio, etc. I didn’t see an option to control the entire AVR. So I manually added buttons to the remotes of all my IR-enabled devices. Now I’d like to do something I had on my old Harmony remote. I had activity buttons that turned on all my devices. These were physical buttons. Now I’d like to create these activities on the display. So, when I pick up the remote, I’d like to have a selection of several activities on the display: Watching TV Watching Movies Smart TV etc. How can I do this?
Select Add New Activity from the home screen in the Web Configurator. You then add your entities there but make sure you also setup activity groups under Activities and Macros if you want to smoothly transition from one activity to another (like the Harmony we’re all switching from).
I have two days off, so I’ll have some time to configure this remote. I’ve already started playing with it. I added all my devices manually. There were quite a few, and almost all of them were infrared. I did this by adding a new unknown device and then saving the codes from the original infrared remote. I pointed the original remote at the infrared receiver attached to the docking station. All the codes were saved in Remote 3. I then assigned the remote’s buttons to the codes and added the missing buttons (code) to the display. I went to test it, and none of the devices are responding to my input. What could I have done wrong? Does the docking station need to be in the same room as the remote for the infrared to work? I think the remote has a sensor, so it should work without the docking station? Right now, I have the docking station in another room during setup because it’s easier for me.
I’m wondering if the unit I received might have a damaged IR transmitter in the remote control?
In the entity you must define who should send the IR codes.
btw. the remote can also send IR but it must be activated in settings, development, preview features. In my tests the range was quite good with >8m/9yd. I didn´t test the angle though.

As mentioned above, turning on the remote IR in the Development menu will get you what you need, but if you eventually decide to incorporate the IR extender into the dock those cables are not hot-swappable, so if you plug them in they will not work until you turn the dock off and back on. Those functions are, at the moment, very flaky. I have my A/V receiver connected via IR cable and although it works the amount of time it takes for the function to trigger is entirely unpredictable. The receiver might react nearly immediately one time and then take a full second the next time, rarely every consistent. This is sometimes true with the remote’s IRs as well, though I find the remote to be far more predictable and consistent.
Hello. I’m still struggling, but I’m slowly making progress with configuring this remote. Currently, this remote has more drawbacks than advantages compared to my old Harmony. Can someone explain to me how to teach it to transition between activities? For example, I’d like to switch from the “Home Theater” activity to the “Watching Sat” activity. I’ve created such activities, and if I turn them on and off individually, they usually work correctly. However, if I switch from, for example, “Home Theater” to the “Watching Sat” activity, strange things start happening. Some devices will turn off and on, while others will just turn off and not switch to the appropriate inputs on the AVR. Everything was easy in the Harmony, but this isn’t so easy.
Hi,
https://support.unfoldedcircle.com/hc/en-us/articles/13269248303516-How-to-create-an-activity
read about activity groups.

I’ve already set up two activities. I’m having trouble switching between them. When I want to switch from the Home Theater activity to the Watch Sat activity, I want it to do so seamlessly without turning off any devices. I simply set the input on the AVR and turned on the Sat receiver. In Harmony, there was an option in the setup that handled this, and everything worked smoothly without turning off any devices. Everything breaks down during the switch.
I understood with 1st post. Did you read the article about activity groups?
Btw with power toggle switch will not work in this case you must create copies of power toggle and name them POWER_ON and POWER_OFF.
Ralf
Do I need remotes with on/off functions for this activity group to work? All my remotes have one button to turn on devices. I created this group and added my two activities, “Watch Sat” and “Watch Movie,” to it. Unfortunately, no matter which option I use in the activity group, my devices are turned off and everything falls apart.
Yes you must have power_on and power_off but if it is IR both can be the same as power,_toggle only with different names.
If possible it would be better to use integration if they exists.
Which devices do you use?
Ralf
I think I did as you wrote and copied the IR signal as POWER_ON and POWER_OFF. This seems to work. However, another problem arose. I have a Smart TV box. I paired Remote 3 with my Smart TV box via Bluetooth. I wanted to do something similar, copying the Power Toogle signal as POWER_ON and POWER_OFF, but it doesn’t seem possible. Is there a way to do this?
Which Bluetooth device? The default profile offers a lot of options. With the filter power in the commands you can test if you find on and off.
Copying Bluetooth is not possible. Perhaps 2 macros named power_on and power_off can do the trick

Overall, I’ve programmed most of the equipment and it works well. My only issue is with my Denon AVR. The volume control is terrible. Holding down the “+” or “-” button doesn’t work over IR. It works through IP integration, but the delay is enormous. Is there a solution?
They are working on it. It should work fast if you reduce the timeout for the entity.

Tell me about it! I’ve had my R3 for over a year and still have no idea how to program the thing. I have a SofaBaton that I’m using and it is not real helpful either. I still have 6 remotes to deal with and my wife just watches tv in the bedroom. It’s ridiculously non user friendly. It’s a $400 paperweight.
