Sony Blu-ray Play and Pause on the single hard button

Upon realizing that Sony uses discrete Play and Pause codes for most of its Blu-ray models, including my UBP-X800M2, I wasn’t happy. Sure, I coud assign Pause to a long press of the play/pause button, but as it’s the only device I have like that, I’d forget and wonder why the player wasn’t pausing. Annoying.

There’s a solution, though, at least for my player: Use Pause. Turns out Pause is actually a toggle command, pausing when content is playing, and playing when content is paused. There may be cases where a true Play is useful, but I suspect I’ll find Enter works well for those (e.g. starting an item from a menu).
