Remote 3 - Ich gebe auf

Hallo Community,

What did you do in the case of the Fritzbox mesh?

I have no proble8with Fritzbox Mesh consisting of router and 3 access points. I have separate SSIDs and remote in 2.4 GHz, channel 6 and WPA2 only. I control almost 20 devices by IP.

It is nice that you do not have a problem @HarmonyFan , but a lot of people DO.

In my case I had constant disconnects and with the disconnects iR did not work anymore (because sent by HUB and remote was not connected to HUB anymore)…

I “fixed” it for me by using a spare Fritz.Box I had and creating a separate network with another SSID and just a single access point… since I connected the remote 3 with this, I have a much better reliability with everything and no more “strange” issues where the remote sais “I am connected” but does still not reach the devices.

I know that this is not feasible for everbody, because not everybody has the hardware and knowledge to create a separate network, but for me it is a valid workaround until this issue is fixed in the drivers.

And to counter any “but did you try…”- Remarks: I tried anything from using only 2.4 (I also have different SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz) to connecting the Hub using eithernet. All devices have fixed IPs and the hub is configured using a custom URL. I can reproduce the issue just by switching the Remote to the other SSID. It might possibly be, that at that point in the living room two access points are equally strong and probably therefor the remote tries to switch between them, and in your case one access point is clearly better than the others so that it works for you, but this is just speculation.

It is confirmed by at least two other people that they could solve their WiFi issues by either restricting the remote to only connect to one access point (possible with some Wifi routers) or creating a single access point SSID

>>By restricting remote control to a single access point (possible with some Wi-Fi routers)<<

Is this possible with a Fritzbox (5590)? Switching to a separate SSID is a bit too much trouble for me.

Unfortunately not. But: Do you have additional access points in your network and “Mesh” enabled? If you only have one Fritzbox then this should not be a problem

I am using a FritzBox 5690pro in MESH mode. I have two WLAN, one at 2.4 GHz where the components (Remote and HUB) are registered, the second WLAN for the”rest”. So I did not have serious problems with the “basic” start.

After configuring with the web interface, I started integrating devices. There were only 3 devices to be integrated which all were connected to my LAN: a PHILIPS TV, a YAMAHA AVR, a SKYQ Receiver. It didn’t work with any of them.

I tried to learn the Remote simple IR commands using an ON/OFF IR switch for a lamp. The Hub confirmed, but nothing worked.

I do not want to spend more time on this.

Already sold your remote?

No, it is still for sale.

@Daydream I don’t know how to sent you a personal message here on the forum, but I’m interested. Can you maybe reach out to me?

I also had problems; there were days when I wanted to throw the remote against the wall, like many others here. I asked around here, tried it myself, and now everything works.

If anyone near me needs help with remote work, I am happy to help.
