Oof - That new media widget

I’m always excited to update to the latest beta for fixes and improvements. But that new media widget? 95% of my media consumption is TV and movies. Why do I want shuffle and repeat icons taking up valuable real estate on my screen? I couldn’t find any settings to remove this clutter. Any ideas?

Yeah, not so keen on this myself since I don’t use any media select functionality. It’s great for those who want it, but give us the option to turn it off.

Created an issue for this on GitHub.

Yeah, I agree, I already have 3 buttons, for rewind, play/pause and fast forward, they work fine. And what I would expect if watching TV. However, I can understand these being displayed if playing music.

At least the right button might be of interest for you as it should open a list of media and in your case TV channel if the integrations supports it.

I cannot understand why you all want a big more or less useless picture on a remote.

KISS
at least for old guys, engineers and the combination of both.

Just out of interest, do you not use the media widget at all then?

I use the Widget quite a lot. Especially if you use the new Bowser feature these commands are important and CCTV is in each of my 27 activities included.

@tiki

Keep It Simple, Stupid and you bought a Unfolded Circle Remote? Isn´t it a contradiction?

Ralf

But you don’t like the large view of the media?

I do not need a large imgage. It it similar to the discussion LCD/OLED I do not watch the display all the time. For me my R2 and R3 are stillt remotes and not picture viewer.

Hi Ralf,

you’re right.
I’m a bit overwhelmed and I’m nowhere near making full use of all the features. If you’re not a software developer, a lot of it isn’t very intuitive, including the web-UI.

The concept itself seems fine to me, although I’d probably put the smarts in the dock as well. But after many weeks of fiddling with the settings and countless attempts, I was glad to get rid of the Harmony.
What won me over was that the configuration takes place within the remote control itself and remains stored there.

Cheers, tiki

I agree. I dislike the first two icons. Wish there were a way to make them optional.

Yep. It was a terrible design decision.
