I’ve put out a release of a Tapo integration for the Remote 2/3. It controls TP-Link Tapo bulbs, light strips, and plugs (with live energy sensors for P110-class plugs) over your local network using your TP-Link account credentials.
Tested on an L430C colour bulb, a P100 plug, and a P110 plug. Other Tapo devices should work but I haven’t verified them. If you try one, I’d appreciate a note on whether it works.
A few caveats before installing:
This is early-access software, use at your own risk. Future versions might include breaking changes, I’ll try to limit them.
TP-Link account credentials are stored as plaintext on the Remote. There’s no practical way to encrypt them without OS-level support the integration framework doesn’t expose. If that bothers you, please don’t install.
Thanks for the integration. I have lots of P110 plugs and so far I’ve been using the HA integration with my remotes. So far I’ve tested the integration with one of them using a Remote 3 and I can see the 5 sensors and can confirm that the On, Off, and toggle commands all work as expected. The units are being displayed fine on the remote itself however for some reason they aren’t displayed on the web configurator. I guess that might be Web Configurator functionality that is currently missing.
Hey fbutler, thanks for testing this. Yes, I’ve noticed that the Label and Units seem to do different things on the configurator and the remote. I’m not sure where the problem is but it’s on my list to investigate.
