yes,That’s what I meant.
Many people think I could just plug in the remote and everything would work; unfortunately, it’s not that simple.
I also had problems, but I asked others and tested it myself, and then everything worked suddenly.

OK, I’ll try that.
The latest problem I had was when a custom integration had to be reinstalled for the umpteenth time, the activity using it lost the associated UI buttons and they all had to be added again… This hasn’t happened before.
This only happens if you edit or start/stop an activity with these orphan entities while the integration is not installed. Just stay on the integration page while uploading the new version
Just double-checking:
For older devices that only have a regular IR remote, I do NOT need to install any integration. Correct?
Also, is it normal for some entities to have completely incorrect IR codes in its database? I mean, mistakes are bound to happen, and I don’t blame the devs - I’m just curious if that happens or if I somehow messed it up. (Details: My Yamaha A/V system was recognized by series name, and when I originally set it up, the power button and a few others worked, but now none of the buttons for the entity work anymore, so I’ll likely add the ones I need manually).
Correct
No, this should be reported to UC if the codes are in the internal database and were not imported. There are already some codes that were corrected because of user feedback.
hen creating or developing a program, it’s impossible for a single person to consider everything; everyone has to make their own adjustments. Mistakes happen, that’s normal. But in a community, many mistakes are corrected.
Nevertheless, I see enormous potential in remote controls, and significant progress has already been made in their development.
Yeah, I think I tried to use the R3, found the integration was borked, deleted it, then realised I was missing what I wanted to watch, so grabbed the Harmony remote. Next day, the R3 didn’t work, so I went in to reinstall the integration and found the UI buttons were missing.
For me, the integrations are too fragile to make the R3 an everyday primary remote , even though all the relevant kit is on static IPs on the same router, same network, in the same room… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What do you mean by UI buttons missing? Please always include logs. Otherwise no one will or can help you.
Did you add the entities also after configuring the integration.
Ralf
I mean that the buttons that I had added to the user interface for the activity, so as to execute commands for the integration that failed, had disappeared from the user interface. The buttons for commands for the other integrations (that had not failed) were still present.
I don’t know what logs you’re referring to, or where they might be.
Yes, when I first installed & setup the integration, I added the relevant entities. That’s how I was able to add buttons for those functions to the activity user interface.
When I reinstalled the integration (& re-added the entities), I went to test the activity that used it, and found that the activity UI buttons for it were missing. So I had to add the buttons for those entity commands again.
This was not normal. I reinstalled several Integrations quite often. If you only remove the integration twice and reinstall it with adding entities your activities should be untouched.
Ralf
Yes, that’s why I mentioned it. I’ve had to uninstall & re-install integrations (especially SmartThings) almost daily, and it’s only happened once.
Which integration was this? There were some by Mase that changed their driver id with an update. This is also causing the entities to disappear from activities because the remote is looking for them with the old id. Usually this is mentioned in the release notes as a breaking release.
It sounds like you’re having more trouble with the current activity model than with “you misconfigured it.”
In this system, an Activity is more like a state than a macro. “Active” just means that the remote has selected activity. You won’t automatically power off unless you leave the activity or bind a power action to a specific place (like a global power button or a separate shutdown activity). That’s why your power-off sequence seems to do nothing.
The UI on the remote usually doesn’t update because activities don’t live-update. If you change the button mapping, widgets, or macros, you have to re-sync or re-deploy the config to the remote. The web UI shows it, but the remote doesn’t have it yet. The remote keeps the old activity definition unless you force a sync.
Right now, macros are like second-class citizens: they don’t show up where you think they will. You usually have to tie them to a physical button inside the activity, not just drop them on the activity screen like an entity. That’s why you can’t see your volume spam macro.
There isn’t a real “default entity” for each activity yet, like there was in Harmony. You have to map every button unless the integration shows media keys that the activity automatically gets (Google streamer usually does, but IR devices don’t).
In short:
Activities are modes, not workflows.
Power-off usually needs its own button or activity.
Always sync again after making changes to the config.
Macros only work when they are clearly linked.
not yet an automatic device focus for each activity
Things are a lot less confusing once you accept that mental model, but it’s hard to do that when you’re coming from Harmony.
Well you are further along than I am. Apple 4k TV; LG OLED TV; Denon AVR.
Nothing i have tried works.
The Logitech and Sofabaton just worked.
Apple and Denon are integrated in the firmware what did you try?
For Apple TV integration did you prepare your Apple TV like written here:
And for Denon:
I think LG integration is the problem with your download.
Ralf
I got connected to the AppleTV
Sounds like you are well along in getting it working.
I have a very simple setup that so far has been totally unsuccessful. (I don’t believe I had this many problems with the unfolded 2)
Here is what I need.
Denon AVRX6700HBKE3 set to media player input
LG OLED55E6P set to input HDMI2
Apple TV 4k used to play content
I have added the Apple TV Integration and LG Entity
I have 3 Pages I was trying to configure
Family
Activities
Devices
Would it be possible for you to provide the detailed steps to configure my U3?
TIA
