How to start for Dummies?

Is there any setup guide for “Dummies”?

I am still struggling with getting my devices configured properly.

On one hand I get devices steered by IR added as ENTITY, but an Apple TV is an INTEGRATION. I can add an Entity directly to page, but I didn’t get it managed with the AppleTV.

With the Logitech Harmony it was so simple:

  1. creating all devices
  2. creating activities by adding devices to the activity

In Remote3 I can add Entities to an Activity, but not my AppleTV (Integration).

Like for all integration you must combine/pair it with the devices. Go to add device, select Apple TV then a setup process is started.

There are more articles there. On YouTube the user thrill at published several videos.

For a lot of integrations, like Apple TV, you must see the display as often a pin is displayed or a dialog is shown were you must grant permission.

I feel your pain, I’m going to take slow and do an entity at a time, make sure it works and move to the next. I don’t think I will be able to set this up in one sit.

I was very good with Harmony and found several tricks there but even with my experience it took me around 2 weeks to get used to it. Once you understood the logic of R3 it is really easy. “The first step is always the hardest”

Thanks for your commitment.

I just learned, that INTEGRATIONS seem to be just like some drivers, which are needed, to connect to AppleTV, … . Then these drivers will be used to add a real device (Entity).:see_no_evil_monkey:

But maybe I am still wrong.

I will try to learn…

No you are quite right. On a lot of integrations you can pair several devices and use them. So a comparison with a driver is not bad.
