I have both a Remote Two and Remote 3 and use both. Here’s my thoughts:
Remote 3 software is much easier to use. Fantastic job
Remote 3 is smaller. Feels nice in the hand, although the screen is also smaller (do not like)
Remote 3 screen is too dim to be useful. Even with brightness turned all the way up, if there are any smudges on the screen, it is incredibly difficult to read in a well-lit room.
The physical button layout and tactile feel is much better on the Remote Two. The remote three has additional buttons which could be useful, but there was no need to update something that was already IMO fantastic. Remote 3 is a step back in this regard.
My Remote 3 is now in the closet collecting dust and I’m using the Remote Two. The reasons: the Remote Two has a much better, vibrant, and brighter screen and the layout and feel of the physical buttons is so much better. So from an everyday use perspective, the Remote Two just provides a better experience.
The configurator software on the Remote 3 is so much better, but that’s not something I use everyday.
Remote 2 and 3 are using the same software. I guess you’re still running the old configurator on your Remote Two? Enable Beta updates and you get the same software as on your Remote 3.
The Remote 3 really feels great in hand. Nice quality.
The screen though, is a big disappointment for me. Colors and contrast already flip, when viewing only slightly from an angle.
I know that OLED wasn’t an option, as static images, like having them on a remote control, would quickly burn in.
But the quality of the LCD is really bad and wasn’t a good choice at all.
Just wondering: Are you using your remote is a very brightly lit room/in direct sun light?
In my case I have the brightness set to 25% and that is more than enough. For both during the day and in the evening (its actually still quite bright in the evening).
