Cannot program hard buttons; core software mismatches/old

Hi all, new user here.

I am hoping someone has encountered this before and might point me toward a solution. I cannot assign any entities to the hard buttons using Home Assistant…they simply are not visible in the hard buttons section in the configurator.

Apparently the core version and ui version are not updating properly and I need more current versions for everything to work as I need it to, even though the firmware is updating (2.7.3 updated yesterday). I have a Dock 3 and its at 0.8.1.

Any insights or thoughts on how I can fix this?

First, always use incognito when using web configurator (my suggestion).
Second, can you share more insight, which HA entity as an example you trying to map to hard buttons and how are you trying to do so? share screenshot or something, just so we can follow your followed steps to see if we can reproduce and assist further. as an example for me, if you add an entity to an activity, then go to activity mapping, it works with no issue. provide more insight so we can follow and assist further.

Just curious why you are suggesting this?

caching issues. each time i had a problem similar to what you expressed it was always caching, since then i use only incognito to get to web configurator and never had issues again.

Thanks for responding. Note I’m still figuring out how I should be doing any of this…however when I launched in incognito mode, I now do see the commands in the button mapping section and can assign them to the hard buttons.

I still am unable to see my Activities page on the remote…it appears my core software version mismatch might mean I’m missing a bunch of necessary tools and cannot add Activity pages to the remote. I emailed Unfolded Circle and am hoping they can provide me with the core updates to apply manually. I think I might be stuck until I get the software issue sorted out.

I wish I had more of a reference point to what the UI should look like vs what I’m seeing so I could make a better assessment of how to fix this. Its sad but I’m trying to use ChatGPT to try to figure this out but I think it is sometimes leading me down a rabbit hole of misinformation. It tells me since my core version is 0.65 and not 0.70 or greater, I cannot add the activities pages to the remote.

To add activities to the remote go to customize my remote, create the page and select to edit it. Add yo activity to that page and you should see it.

Which firmware version do you have current version for R2 is 2.6.12 and for R3 2.7.3. to get the latest versions you must enable beta updates.

Btw. The are some quite good videos about the R3 on YouTube.

Thank you for responding. I am on firmware 2.7.3, but the core version and UI versions are 65.2 and 64.4. Could be me but I still can’t quite figure out how to add the activity. I made a short desktop capture showing what I’m talking about.

Basically I started an activity in the “Activities and Macros” section and called it “Dish” where I started to add buttons (they work when I run ‘test’). When I then head to ‘customise your remote’, all I see are two pages I created, but don’t see how to add this ‘Dish’ activity to the remote.

I expect this is just me being ignorant but the ‘a-ha!’ moment hasn’t hit me yet.

“Dish” activity…cannot add to R3
