Question, trying to add two new buttons under User Interface (i.e. touchscreen) and using the web configurator it seems the changes are not pushed to the remote. Am I able to perform a manual sync to push the changes?
So far working with the UCR3 has been a very challenging time. I have basically created three devices for my cable box, Sony TV and Sennheiser AMBEO MAX. I added the Sony TV as a bluetooth device, then added two IR devices of which I both had to map out the IR commands manually using the dock.
In the end I get control of the devices and functions as needed but not as intuitive as the Harmony with integrations. If someone knows how to manually sync the remote this would be great. Thx
Try to place to the remote in the Dock when doing longer configuration sessions. All changes should be instant and no sync is needed like for Harmony devices.
Hi,
like with the Harmony you should create and use activities. It also works with devices only but not as convinient. I either case you must select “customize my remote” and add devices or activities to a page here otherwise you will not see it.
The start with R3 is a bit rough but if you are used to it it will be a lot better and the princible is very similar to the Harmony. You have devices, combine them to activities and create a GUI for it.

I tried both in/out of the dock and no change. Web configurator is connected with the remote but refuses to send the extra keys I wish to map. Not sure why this worked well a week ago and now all of a sudden not. Is there a reset I can perform without erasing the entire config.
Are you maybe editing an activity while it’s running? Then you need to close the activity ui on the remote and enter it again to get the new mapping.
Good question, I’ll have to check when I have time later this evening. I only have 3 entities defined, Sony TV as a Bluetooth device, then cable box and AMBEO MAX soundbar as IR remotes. I usually close all pages if I’m in a particular device but other than that the remote typically shows ‘unknown’ status below each device, even when I’m sending commands.
If any of the 3 devices are connected will this cause an issue? The dock is connected via eth w/POE and the remote is connected via wi-fi. If I place the remote in the dock and disable wi-fi on the remote, will it update or does the remote absolutely need to be connected to wi-fi at all times. Would toggling wi-fi off/on force the remote to disconnect from any running entities?
Activity is not a device. Status feedback only with IP not IR control.

Sounds like you haven’t created any activities yet. Like Ralf already mentioned you should use them instead of working with multiple entities. Separate entities are usefull if you need rare used commands (especially external remote entities from integrations as they have pre-mapped UI and button mappings).
The remote is the “brain” and the dock is basically just an integration to send ir commands (which can also be done by the remote itself if you activate this in settings/development/preview features). Therefor the remote always needs a Wifi connection. At least to communicate with ip based devices from integrations and the dock. Bluetooth and internal ir don’t need Wifi but you won’t be able to access the configurator if the remote isn’t connected to WiFi.
OK I’ll try the integrations, but I simplified my set-up recently from a full 7.1.2 Denon receiver and surround sound package, Sony TV and multiple gaming consoles, IPTV box, etc. Before this time I never used the UCR3 and only the Harmony which was acting up. I figured the UCR3 would be a great replacement, but it has been challenging.
Now I just wanted simplicity since moving to the condo and hence the only 3 entities now are the Sony TV, Sennheiser AMBEO MAX and my IPTV box. Yes, I can create activities but not sure with only 3 devices why the extra steps. I originally programmed the remote, although had to map the IR codes separately as no codes existed in the UC databases.
So, imo the UC is less user friendly than the Harmony, I’ll try integrations (assume this is what harmony referred to as activities) and go from there. Thanks for the info and I’ll see if I can remove HDMI CEC from the Sony TV so it doesn’t control the Sennheiser and let the integration take care of this. Issue with the Senn is it doesn’t have separate input buttons; you have to cycle up/down to get the right input. With CEC enabled as soon as it sees a signal it auto switches to the correct input. So, with only 3 devices just having the entities and switching between was fine just don’t understand what would stop me being able to make changes to the touchscreen when originally, I could. Seems to me if I make a change, it should just get pushed.
It’s up to you if you don’t want to use activites but just like with Harmony remotes you will loose a lot of potential. Activities are very similar to Harmony activites the only difference is that you have to do most of the configuration and maping by yourself and there’s no wizard for this (yet). In activities you have comands from all your included devices in one place and don’t need to switch between devices. For me thats actually one the the main reasons why I use a universal remote.
CEC should be disabled to avoid inteferences. This is also what Logitech advised.
The Global Caché IR database contains discrete input codes for your soundbar. Here’s a turotorial how to add codes from that database: Import IR Code Sets from Global Caché — unfolded.tools
Can you post a screenshot of the configurator page where you want to make changes?
