Backup without WiFi

Is there anyway I can restore the remote from a back up, without a WiFi connection?.I installed the beta 2.7.0 and it screwed my WiFi , I can’t connect to the web configurator, factory reset didn’t work

I did email support, have heard nothing back, currently my remote is useless

No. At least i never read about it.

Have you tried the factory reset at boot up by pressing Vol Up + Vol Down (not factory reset within the UI) like described here? Latest beta FW 2.7.0 WiFi issue - #4 by kennymc.c

Yes, tried that, tried factory reset also.My remote is useless now :sob:

Then you have to wait for an answer from UC.

Did you get an option to install firmware after the factory reset?
Make sure Beta updates is enabled in General - Software update
I would have thought you could install 2.6.12 once you reset.

No, I can’t connect to web configurator.

Every time I start the remote, I get as far as selecting the WiFi, but it doesn’t find any WiFi networks .Hoping UC can sort something out

Is this R2 or R3?

It’s a Remote 2

Do you have an error on the display? On discord the people got an error similar to no WiFi interface board found.

Not error on display. The remote just searches for WiFi networks, none are displayed

Can you see what firmware it is running?
I would have thought a factory reset would bring it back to 1.7.14

On the remote?

Yes. Isn’t there an ‘About’ somewhere? I don’t have mine in front of me.

I don’t have it in front of me either.I will check tomorrow.Appreciate everyone’s help

It’s in all our self interests!

Press the dot in the upper right of the display - scroll down to the bottom for ‘About’
It will tell you the Core version of the firmware.

Good luck.

What about plugging the dock into an Ethernet connection and then docking the remote? Not sure if the remote does some kind of sync but it might be worth a shot. If that doesn’t work, try going through the remote settings on the remote while it’s docked and verify your dock LAN connection is good. Get the MAC for both devices. Set a hard IP in your router. Reboot everything and do all that.

There’s a bug in the factory restore that doesn’t reset the firmware version for some R2s. Mine is stubbornly stuck with no WiFi on version 2.7.0 despite performing numerous factory restores.

That is very bad news.

Yeah, Markus posted a week ago in the beta feedback channel on Discord to say they were trying to recreate the issue with some R2’s. I requested an update on the issue there this morning.
