AppleTV seems to be disabled

I am using latest beta-version 2.8.1, but I had this issue as well with version 2.7.3 :

I enabled „AppleTV“ INTEGRATION 0.19.3 and created an entity based on this Integration.

Yesterday the device was shown incl. an icon in the device-list. Today suddenly AppleTV is appearing as disabled:

I have no cue, why this happened. The Apple device is turned on and running, but not identified by my Remote3.

Can anybody help? How can I get AppleTV integrated without issues?

Hi,

have you already restart the R3?

Yes, that I tried already.

Is the Apple TV shown in your router? Did the IP change?

Also do you know roughly how many times youve set up the ATV integration in total. I have found that every time you rerun the ATV integration setup it creates additional copies of the remote within the ATV remotes settings (on the ATV itself). This ended up causing me many challenges with communicating reliably with the ATV. When I found this I deleted all the R3 remotes on the ATV itself and then added the integration once. All then worked perfectly. This may not be your issue but just fyi.

Check if Mac changes. Some devices use random macs for security reasons.

I haven’t found a possibility about configuring MAC-address behaviour in AppleTV. It seems to be static.

But I now set a fix IP address for AppleTV and deleted all existing Remote3 devices in AppleTV.

In Remote3 I deleted the AppleTV entity and recreated it. Now connection is working again. Crossing my fingers that it will stay like this.

Wow. I never caught this till now. I’ve been having issues off and on mostly with the ATV and never thought to check this. I have 2 airplay entries and 2 companion entries. I’m going to remove them and rerun the integration setup to see if that helps any.

Give it a try. So far I do not have long-time experience.

One Airplay and one companion entry in Apple TV seems to be normal.

You can’t configure this behaviour in tvOS. The Mac address gets rotated radomly usally after an OS update. In macOS and iOS/iPadOS you can disabled this. Ask Apple why you can’t do this with tvOS.
